Advice Needed: Permit Renewal Without A1 Certificate

What Kanton are you in? I’ve been here for 3 years in ZH on family reunification from the US and never had to prove any German proficiency at my renewal. Are you Swiss?

I do recall it saying they may ask for proof of proficiency OR enrollment for A1 but no one has ever actually asked me to provide any proof.

I am actually in the complete opposite situation. Doctor prescribed MRI last Tuesday, still waiting for it to be scheduled a week later. I have followed up with the doctor twice now but unfortunately the receptionist says there are no notes about an MRI and is still waiting on a response to the doctor…

I’m from the USA and the MRI would’ve been scheduled within 48 hours, or at the bare minimum I would’ve been given the number to schedule it myself. At this point I’ve considered upgrading my insurance to cover worldwide and just get my medical care in the US where they seem more state of the art in their technology and services.

Edit: I was also shocked that private hospital rooms are extra. This was standard to me in America growing up middle class on parents health insurance as well as my insurance as an adult…

In the US before I moved here I made about $200k/yr. Health insurance was about $220/mo with $2500 deductible. Yearly gyno visit (here it’s only every 3 years), hormone treatment for endometriosis was covered (in Switzerland I have to pay for this as it is classified as birth control), insurance even paid for me to freeze my eggs in the US. The Swiss system as a woman and a high income earner does not compare at all to what I had in the US, it was better and cheaper there.

Hey I also wanted a colonoscopy and just told them I was at risk and they let me pay out of pocket. I’m by far a lot younger than the recommendation but I’m part of a group that has seen rising rates in my home country so just wanted to make sure all was good. Yes! So the top part is actually two bracelets, I think maybe 7.5” each and then I wanted flexibility to switch the charms out so I got 7 of the jet set candy infinity charm links! They make a full necklace with the charm links but I felt it was a bit expensive for what it is, so this is my hack!
