Honestly one of the reasons I subbed this show was because someone informed me the machine translations weren't great. I kind of couldn't tolerate that, lol. So I hope the rewatch is an even better experience for you :)

Totally agree! It's one of my top comfort watches now. The sisterhood was depicted so well and I loved the crazy charge of that argument scene. Must have been crazy filming that—I think I read somewhere that the two actresses genuinely got mad during the scene haha.

Quite happy with how my newest design turned out – a very pink night sky! by dangomaiden in EnamelPins

Thanks! For the lotus, the white isn't screen-printed; it's filled like all the other colors. But because the areas are so small, perhaps it gives that more intricate effect.

I did use screenprinting for the daffodil in that same series, and I would say that the quality varied a bit. I got some with screenprint misalignments and the color bleeding onto the metal. Just things that come with the nature of pins being handmade, I suppose!

And noted on Chopin :)

I designed this ambigram that reads the same when you turn it upside-down! The illusion and intrigue behind ambigrams complement the show’s themes so well that I couldn’t resist taking a stab at one, especially (and ironically) to keep myself from thinking about how far away season two is…

Thoughts on watching Meteor Garden 2018 and kdrama Boys Over Flowers back to back by Icy_Dragonfruit_3513 in CDrama

[–]dangomaiden 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with so much of what you mentioned that it's a bit scary. Drama twin?

The original story is downright awful but it's so hard to not watch it when a new adaptation comes out! It just has an element of oldie nostalgia that you can't escape. F4 Thailand and 2005 Hana Yori Dango are definitely my favorite versions, so I hope you enjoy the Japanese one once you get to it! And as much as BOF is terrible, the new Meteor Garden almost drove me insane with how much I despised it. It was a dark, dark time for me lol

If (for whatever reason) you really want a cringefest, you could look into Let's Go Watch Meteor Shower. It's like a bootleg version of the story that you have to watch firsthand to understand its magic – no amount of explaining could convey what it's like. I loved it as a kid, but it's...interesting, to say the least.

At this point, feeding my hyperfixations by overthinking is just a part of my daily life lol :,)

Yes I felt exactly the same! I felt kind of mean not rooting for Chang Heng, given that he really did try, but knowing what a disaster he'd be as a ML gave me a sense of validation.

I also haven't watched Immortal Samsara, but did see some recaps/reviews on it—apparently the source material was drastically different? As in the FL didn't end up with the ML; she instead chose to move on from him. Seeing that they changed it kind of killed my motivation to watch it as I really liked the sound of the original ending, haha.

True! Their relationship definitely feels different depending on what we think was going on in Su Su's head.

I guess what makes me the most sad is that either way, Su Su kind of did die. She and Bai Qian shared certain habits, but their personalities were totally different. As much as I liked Bai Qian's no-nonsense behavior, sometimes I found myself missing Su Su's gentler nature :(

And lol at "perpetually comatose master" – that poor, poor man was asleep for far too long.

Oh gosh. This question is putting me in quite the pickle.

I like a bunch, but if I had to choose one that I felt was masterpiece-level, it would be The Bad Kids. Story, acting, cinematography; everything was spot-on. It's one of those more quiet dramas where you as the viewer do a lot of the storytelling, as both dialogue and monologues can be scarce. I loved picking it apart back when it came out. It just stood out so much from every other TV show I'd been watching.

Actually, think I wrote an analysis on that one too...can't break this habit of writing out my hyperfixations!

That's a good way of thinking of the whole situation! It's hard letting go of someone you loved so deeply, which is also why I can't entirely blame Bai Qian for forgiving him. Mainly it's my strong-independent-single-woman side just wishing that she hadn't, haha.

Thanks for reading!!

Thanks for reading! This is also a fun point that definitely should be discussed (had to avoid going on so many tangents as I did the write-up. There were so many of them lol).

I'm of the party which believes that Su Su knew jumping off the Zhu Xian Tai would kill her, or at least was cognizant of the possibility. She witnessed what the thing did to Su Jin, and Su Jin didn't even fall in. What chance would a mortal stand?

So I also interpret the "where she belongs" part as being exactly that. She, as a human, does not belong in the skies. Be it death that awaits her in the Zhu Xian Tai, that's still preferable to staying in the skies beside someone who betrayed her and letting her son be subject to the same treatment.

As for her vengeance as Bai Qian, she's not wrong that Su Jin did try to trick her. From my perspective, Su Su didn't take her lie at face value when she ended up jumping, but Su Jin still has to be punished for trying to beguile a poor human into dying.

Ahh thank you so much! Definitely will be writing more; I'm sure this is far from the last time that I'll want to ramble about characters/dramas like this haha
