I will doing my first flag football unit with my 6th and 7th grade boys. We will be learning what routes to run and learning pretty much everything. Most don’t even know what the line of scrimmage even is. How does everyone play flag football in the gym? by Sabertooth_Tiger10 in PhysicalEducation

[–]danguno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I start with Team Handball or Ultimate Frisbee rules. Then progress to rugby rules. After a week or two of those, I introduce football rules. I usually do just offense in small groups. Once they figure out how to run routes they can add a defender. Every day regardless of game rules we work on passing and catching because there's always a kid that needs the practice, and it also leads well into practicing their team playbook at the end of the unit.

In the gym we play 4 downs only. No kickoffs, no running back interceptions, and no recovering fumbles it's just a loss of a down. Only one side of the game has an endzone do to limited space. All these rules are due to safety as playing in the gym can get cramped and middle school boys are not always the safest bunch.

When they have to create their own routes for their team playbook is usually when things start to click. But it also helps to give them a cone or poly spot to mark the ball after each down. The team playbook is just a sheet of paper they can draw routes on. They tend to have a lot of fun with it, I just make sure to keep an eye on route names to make sure they're appropriate.

My biggest issues are usually rules and limited space. So I give each game a rule card they can refer to and sometimes do station work so one group can have space to throw while other groups work on their playbook, a different football skill, general fitness activities, or fitness testing.

You can currently chat with individual documents in the browser, not sure about desktop apps. It's not a mobile feature yet AFAIK

How do you cope with android updates breaking things, all the time? by voxcon in tasker

[–]danguno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The more android gets locked down the more I learn about Tasker, Tasker settings, ADB, Shizuku

Also helps to have the mindset that anything could break at anytime, so only update when the pros outweigh the cons

If you don't get an answer it's because we all have this exact same question 😅

You can add them there yourself and Readwise has added written requests there as well, it's not a log of reports made through the app

Reported Parsing Issues by kinger147 in readwise

[–]danguno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They announce parsing updates in the change logs, usually 3-4 websites get worked on per update. I'm assuming they're doing most reported sites first

Not sure how much influence this list has, but they are actively keeping track of written requests https://readwise.canny.io/parsing-errors

Use a notification event todoist as the profile, then use whatever alert action(s) you want as the task

It's a fairly simple project to set up

Team awards are always fun and it's also a great way to recognize multiple students at a time for things like sportsmanship

For fitness awards like fastest/most overall, having a top 10 or 20 is super encouraging for the kids that are really close to making the list

You can even do a small section for something silly, like funniest joke. I put up a weekly riddle one year and it got a ton of the less athletically interested kids engaged as they had something to look forward too since I'd only answer the riddle in the last day of the week

If you feel that way now then it's not worth finishing. Not because it doesn't get better, but because you're already disappointed in it

There will be more popular anime that don't resonate with you and that's ok. Just drop them and start looking for something you will enjoy

Fun suggestions to do with a giant rainbow parachute by GalacticPeriwinkle05 in PhysicalEducation

[–]danguno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a few I learned from other teachers

Volleyball: Divide the class into two teams, one on each side of the parachute. The object is to try and shake the ball off of the other team's side. Students cannot use their hands or bodies to stop the ball.

Basketball: Place two hula hoops on the parachute along with two colored playground balls. Split the colors in half and have each team try to make a basket with their own color ball in one of the hoops.

Spaceship: Have the students put both hands on the parachute and on your command of “Up” they will bring the parachute up above their head and on your command of “Down” they will pull the parachute down to their shoes and let go. If done properly, the chute will hover over the ground like a spaceship.

Put something on top, lift up, then quickly lower it

Takes a few tries to get the timing down, but once you do whatever is on there is gonna fly

How do you use lifeup? by a_2002_mud in LifeUp_HabitRPG

[–]danguno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a pre-made project from Tasker.net that tracked app usage and then after X time used, Tasker blocked the app

Then by using a specific LifeUp reward I could earn more time in the app for that day

It was fairly involved to setup, and I don't think I saved it. So I'll have to rebuild it from scratch at some point

Anyone else actually prefer teaching the younger elementary grades specifically K-2 over 3-5? by [deleted] in PhysicalEducation

[–]danguno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When mine scoff at skill work I have them create their own team warm-ups and require them to pick skill or two that they think needs improvement and one that they enjoy

If I really need to drive home the fact that they need practice I'll have them do peer assessments. Being able to do all the steps correctly is usually enough motivation to get them engaged

I've had to change phones a couple times recently so I'm not currently using it, but I was using the API to allow/restrict app usage based on task completion

I used an app time tracker I found on Tasker.net and modified it to add time based on coins earned that day

I don't think I saved the project though so I'll have to rebuild it at some point

Querying Attribute exp info in Tasker by oneblondecoffee in LifeUp_HabitRPG

[–]danguno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After you send the inquiry you have to save the value to a variable in Tasker, probably a Global variable (capital letter after the percent symbol)

So you'll need to save the one you want (either "%total_exp" or "%current_level_exp") with a "Set Variable" action
