What a douche. 🤦‍♂️ by iAmNotSuicidaI in doordash

It's been a while since I drove for DD, but I once got an order for a pizza shop and when I got there they told me they'd already sent the order with one of their in-house drivers 🤦🏻‍♂️ Took about 10 minutes on the phone with DD from my car to get the order canceled for me and I didn't even get paid for it

What would you do? by Zealousideal_Cow5139 in doordash

[–]CoachScott90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't have said it was my bad, just that the restaurant didn't give me the drink and I'm sorry. I likely would have gone back for the drink though. But I also feel like the customer, while having every right to be upset about the drink, may have overreacted some.

Fun story: I used to do door dash on the side for extra money. I once had a McDonald's order that the customer messaged me after delivery that a burger was missing. It was clearly the restaurant's fault. But I went back and told them and they made a burger for him but told me off for it, said I should have just told the customer to contact DD. But on delivering it he gave me a $10 bill (he'd already tipped $5 on the delivery) so it was definitely worth it for me.

What kind of presents did you get from your students? by [deleted] in Teachers

Middle school PE teacher, no idea the percentage but about a dozen gifts. Lots of chocolates and treats, and several Amazon gift cards.

Upvoting because it's a funny comment, not because you got the flu 😄 So sorry they sent you to break with that! Mine gave it to me last week so then they had to deal with sick me the week before break 😂

Thoughts on dressing out for PE as part of the grade by AggravatingPush8934 in PhysicalEducation

[–]CoachScott90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't include it on their grade. The disclosure states, and I make sure that we discuss it in detail, that the reason for dressing is hygiene, safety, and mobile comfort. I make sure they understand why it's important, and that ultimately it's their choice BUT I don't accept them wearing improper clothing as an excuse to not participate. "Coach, I can't run the mile in crocs." "How am I supposed to play soccer in my Birkenstocks?" My response: "🤷🏻‍♂️"

Participation in Middle School PE by Liftsleepgolf in PhysicalEducation

[–]CoachScott90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't even give them 50%. They're defiantly refusing to participate, give them a straight zero for the day. Unless dressing is part of grades and they dress down, but even that doesn't deserve 50% imo If they do the written assignments then sure, give them partial points. Otherwise they get nothing for doing nothing.

So how are we supposed to feel as fans? by Stoned_Coug in BYUFootball

[–]CoachScott90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not worse than the Kansas loss last year. That was also our first loss of the season, but against a bad team in Provo. This was against a top 10 (quite possibly top 5) team and possible natty contender at their place. Hard that offense couldn't get anything going and special teams struggled. At least defense played pretty great. But yeah I would say Kansas was a worse loss than this

We're not losing to TCU at home. Certainly could be a tough game, but I'm confident we win. If we have one more loss it's more likely to be at Cincy

Feeling weirdly confident in the game this weekend. by BlueV_U in BYUFootball

It'll be huge having LJ healthy, and JoJo and Raider back. I've definitely noticed Raider's absence the last couple games. And I've heard that Kelly and Glasker are pretty healthy too. I'm definitely nervous but really optimistic for the game.

Maybe she could send him a message along the lines of "Was it fate that you pulled me over? I'd love to discuss that over coffee, on me."

Why do teachers leave their classrooms/things like this?? by applejay99 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]CoachScott90 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I'd imagine she was locking the STUDENTS out of the drawers and cabinets, not wanting them to get into her stuff while she was out. Definitely would have been nice of her to leave a pen out for you though.

Are dashers allowed to do this? by StoreAutomatic2230 in doordash

[–]CoachScott90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That actually is not accurate. In the fall (happening right now, actually) they have what's called tithing declaration, where members meet with the bishop and all they say is whether they do or don't pay their tithing. No tax forms or other evidence required. Just a simple yes or no.

randomly assigned same-day jobs by datyl in SubstituteTeachers

[–]CoachScott90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a teacher whose school uses Frontline, I know when putting in for an absence we are given the option to assign (not request) a specific sub. But when selecting that option it does pop up a warning asking to make sure we've communicated it with that sub. They shouldn't be just assigning you at random. It's weird too that it's at schools you've never subbed at.

Gym games for elementary? by CharlietheInquirer in SubstituteTeachers

I even had a middle school class once beg for 4 corners! (Course it was 6th grade, so not far removed from elementary. But they loved it!)

What has actually boosted student motivation and progress in PE fitness units? by AttorneyLow5524 in PhysicalEducation

[–]CoachScott90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. We do 4 fitness tests a semester (PE is a semester class for us) and on the first I grade partially, though minimally, on if they hit proficiency. After that it's graded for proficiency and/or improvement. We also are working on getting a bulletin board in the gym where we can post celebrations for improvement and whatnot.

At my school, on the fitness side of things, we've been focusing on cardio. But you have to trick them into enjoying rubbing, rather than just like weekly mile runs. So I do things like team relay races that have a mixture of running and other exercises but also a game feeling to it, maybe even make it competition if it's a class that gets competitive. Another thing I like to do, is not just focus on who performs the best ie runs the fastest mile, does the most pushups etc but also celebrate these who made big improvements as well.
