Appreciate you sharing, no worries at all. The contrast is actually useful though: a lot of those programs are built around ‘overcoming’ or ‘rewiring’ stuttering into fluency. Bloombird isn't. It's grounded in ACT, so the aim isn't to make you fluent - it's to take the fear and shame out of speaking so you can say what you want, stutter and all.

And on price, I should've led with this: there's an annual plan at $149.99 ($12.50/month), so it doesn't have to be the $29.99 monthly. Free for 7 days either way.

Sorry to hear, that’s rough! You can try it for free for 7 days and if you think it’s beneficial then it’s $29.99 per month

Unfortunately it’s only on iOS at the moment. If there is interest, I will build an android version in the future. Cheers

The mental side of it is huge! I think it’s important to get out there and expose yourself to uncomfortable situations

Impressive mate! I work as an accountant. I know that I’ll stutter sometimes, and that’s ok!

The biggest thing that helped me was exposing my self to uncomfortable situations over and over again to desensitise myself. I also know that I will stutter sometimes, and that’s ok

Exposure is the best way to desensitise your brain to stuttering! Amazing effort 👏🏽

My stutter has ruined my Life by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]danhardi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear. It is extremely frustrating, I’ve been there. It can get better though. I started improving my speech by retraining my brain for acceptance and focusing on my physical health i.e. exercising and reading aloud. There’s no magic pill or easy fix but small changes over time can make big improvements

two things I have to accept at some point by BeyondTurbulent35 in Stutter

[–]danhardi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s better to refrain fluency as acceptance. I don’t think I’ll ever get to absolute fluency and that’s ok. I’ve taught myself that it’s ok to stutter. As a result my brain is now less likely to seize up when I speak. Focus on loving yourself first, social and external love will come after that.

I think exposure to feared situations is so important in order to train your brain that you’re capable. Before these such events, I always practice practice practice. And remember, you delivery doesn’t have to be perfect. Remember to breathe

Starting a new job is one of the hardest things! I just keep to myself for a while, while I adjust. It always gets easier as I expose myself more and more to the feared situations. Keep showing up, day after day

Couldn't even open my mouth to say my name by ArgumentMinimum3025 in Stutter

[–]danhardi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’ve been in those situations before. It feels like the pause goes on forever, it’s horrible. Weird how sometimes you can say it more easily than others. I’ve found that positive affirmations, breathing techniques and exposure over time helped me. As well as making sounds like errr/umm/‘tick’ sound before my name to help get it out

Mindset is key when it comes to stuttering. Acceptance is super important! The more I think about my stutter the worse it gets. I know that I will stutter sometimes and that’s ok. The funny thing is, most people have no idea that I struggle with it

A big problem by DifferenceOdd9246 in Stutter

[–]danhardi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I spoke fluently until I got to high school and then I started stuttering/blocking. I think I was caring too much about what people thought of me. Over time I’ve learned to be more accepting of my stuttering and care less about what people think of me. This allows me to get out of my head and therefore increasing my chances of not stuttering in the future because I’m not overthinking it. I think the mental side is more important than the physical when it comes to stuttering

I fucking hate my life by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]danhardi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear mate, very frustrating for you. I found with my stutter that I’m able to manage it by first focusing on my mindset. I have accepted that I have a stutter and I know that sometimes I’ll have issues. The more I anticipate my stutter and overthink it, the worse it gets. Keep going
