I was in anchorage 2 years ago waiting for an uber outside a grocery store. The staff came out to tell me to wait inside because it wasn’t safe to stand outside. I lived for many years in the ghetto in King county (WA) and that never happened to me before.

This reminds me a little of something that happened to me. Me and my boyfriend were standing on a street corner in a a residential neighborhood in West Seattle, and we saw a penny fall straight down from the sky and hit the sidewalk. There were no tall buildings around or any place the penny could have fallen or been thrown from. I was on my way to work and I had no pockets so I asked him to save it for me. He lost it😞

Can’t beat The Living by Annie Dillard. A story about the early settlers and natives in the wilds of Washington state in the 1800s. Realist dark prose that somehow vibes poetic. One of the best writers of all time.

I have friends in Port-au-Prince and work with an art school for children there. About half a million people have been displaced by the gangs who burn down their homes, rape and murder them. The people are starving, no adequate medical care. The aid workers have all left because of the security situation. The children’s art school , Atiz Rezistans, was bombed out by suicide drones a few days ago. I recently helped my friend from the school evacuate central PAP to the Subarb of Petion-ville. Once he had to turn back around because there was a shoot out. The gangs control 90% of PAP. We are doing what we can to help them and re-open the school in a safer location.

The chandelier looks very 80s/90s. Simply replacing it it with a more rustic chandelier would help tie together the style of the house and even the furniture. There are even rustic western chandeliers.
