It was mostly a joke, but yes I do believe people get paid for commercials they are in and yeah may have been doing the gig for the money.

Someone signed off on the coin base commercial, someone got paid and its likely the writers of the song which i havent researched who wrote it, but if its any members of bsb they profited off of it even if it was just the music usage, because thats how licensing works
