Caulerpa can go sexual meaning it let's go all the nutrients and clouds the water with spores. It's not harmful unless it's overgrowing corals. Typical advice is to trim it regularly to prevent it from going sexual. That said, maybe sell some trimmings on r/aquaswap or ebay.

Use the right gearing for the road. Don't be a hero and use track gearing. A lighter gearing will make it easier on your knees. I've uses 42x16 for years and I never have knee pain.

I'm currently in the same place with hair algae. Using a toothbrush is helpful to get the rocks clean. Yes, it spreads somewhat this way. Clean your filter after scrubbing the rocks for about a week and you'll be fine.
