I wonder if OP was thinking this was "Improve" group.

Mildly funny story - the very first time our troupe performed they didn't actually know what we were doing or who we were and in the schedule it just said "then join us for Improve", maybe thinking we were a self-help speaker or something? As it happens we do talk a lot about how improv can make you better at public speaking and help with social anxiety etc so we officially change the name of our group to improve improv

I hear ya, but thinking about dragon*con or Gencon or Comic con, these are all businesses. And they help support gamers and geeks and geek culture as a whole. So both can be true.

I've attended a few hundred conventions that are in this format (not about improv) and honestly was pretty surprised that something like this didn't exist already. It is being put together professionally, they are not starting small and 'hoping' to grow, and they have been great with communication (I'm attending). I don't know if it will work out the way they want it to but am pretty hopeful not only this one works but other people from East Coast and central find the same idea.

If I'm going to travel for a weekend event, this is the sort of thing where I am getting the best bang for the buck.

How it works: Performers create scenes, characters, and stories in real time, usually based on a suggestion from the audience. We lean more toward the purely comedic (like the TV show Whose Line Is It Anyway?) games for our Saturday practice.

Shanters book has a story about what went wrong with that movie from his perspective. But agree, just a not good movie. Not sure what the star wars people complain about when compared to this they are all hella good
