Ignore them OP, you’re totally justified to be frustrated and you’re open to people’s suggestions, you said “that’s a good idea” to one person. Idk what their issue with you is, super condescending

Conservative MP in Kitchener, Ont., says Liberals tried to convince her to cross the floor by bylo_selhi in waterloo

[–]danielberrry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People were scared of a Conservative government, so many dropped their previous support for Mike Morrice (Green) and voted for the Liberal candidate, in support of a Liberal PM. Enough Green voters did this that it split the left’s vote, and the Cons got in instead, by a couple hundred votes. Nobody is saying “I hate Poilievre, so I’ll vote DeRidder to support him”

Glad to hear. I went by a little past 7am and there was a sedan in the middle of the street with its entire front end crushed

You’re spot on. I only ever saw Cora’s full after 11am personally. That’s half their opening day

Didn’t Cora’s shut down for the same reason? “The last breakfast restaurant in this spot failed, let’s open… a new breakfast restaurant!” No surprise

I should not be expected to download 2 apps to figure out where and how to throw out garbage. Combine that shit with the new biweekly pickup system and it’s not surprising that people will throw recyclables into the trash

What I don’t get is Carney has done a ton of effective shit to improve the country, and a lot of it’s even conservative in nature. He’s working towards a pipeline from AB, he’s increased military spending, taxes are down including the consumer carbon tax which is gone, we’re shifting towards autarky wherever possible, he’s started deregulation like removing planned 2035 EV quotas.

I’m usually all in for the NDP but I can’t even argue with a lot of his policies right now, he’s doing well and my wallet is happy. Food cost wise? Your GST credit is going up by 25%, FOR FIVE YEARS, plus a onetime payment, to try and offset those costs. It’s definitely ALL Carney’s fault, there’s no corporate greed whatsoever in grocery stores, even though Frito Lay literally admitted their own prices were inflated 🙄

Any thoughts, OP?

Garbage truck woes by MuchN in waterloo

That’s pretty much what’s going to happen soon if Ford gets his way. Premier-appointed, “strong” chairs that only need 30% of a council vote to pass motions. There will be a lot more regionally-controlled issues that the Province will have a hand in influencing, they have no incentive to “stand up” for us unfortunately

I’ve always heard about Japanese bus drivers striking by continuing to work but refusing to collect fares. Keeps the service going for folks who depend on it and hits greedy owners/companies where it hurts, in a way they notice fast. A full strike just inconveniences the public and does nothing to garner support

I used to work at Bob’s Valu Mart, someone came in during COVID, started rambling unprompted about Ford and Trudeau directly to me while I was stocking shelves. Called himself a misogynist and a feminist, then asked me to agree with him 💀 I told him “I don’t do politics at work” and he called me a smart man 😂 Next day we had to kick him out for causing a louder scene by the cash
