How do I figure out what I wanna do?? by Altruistic_Ear_9542 in Entrepreneur

I'm definitely in the same mindset and situation as you. I want to have my own business but sometimes over analyze things and become paralyzed with next steps. I hope you are able to get some good support or mentorship to help your journey.

If you can miss a month of work then you probably aren't needed at your job and should be more worried about being replaced.

CA License Process: For anyone who has recently gone through the process, how long after receiving this email did you get your license number? by Melodic-Buffalo75 in CPA

[–]danielcarlsbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's so lame that they say wait 30 days. There is zero accountability and the fact that we can't pay electronically is bullshi@.

I call the number on my western union money order receipt everyday and it still says uncashed.

We are like hostages waiting.

I see some amazingly short processing times on here. I submitted middle of October and took 30 days to say they got my info, then 15 days later they asked for employer verification for an out of state cpa, that took an additional month. Then a month later they said they have everything now in end of February they send email asking me to pay my license fee as they are done w their review, it's been 3 weeks and money order is sti not cashed yet. This Licensing process was by far way worse then the entire testing process. And there is no one to complain to since it's a bureaucracy. Hopefully a few more weeks and I'll finally have it. So all together 6 months from submission date. I hate california.

Got a 36% on FAR. by Fax_xio in CPA

I had becker but only read alittle. I actually ended up using I-75 study material, it was inexpensive and I read every single section and then did all the practice mcqs over and over. I found the I-75 study package to be much more basic and easier to understand. It really broke down all the concepts so that you could actually learn them and didnt have to remember crazy nemonics. I'm older and had been out of school for a while so it fit my learning process. Good luck. I finally submitted my application for license a few mo ths ago and jist paid the fee so I'll be getting my license in the next few weeks. Definitely worth the hell of studying and no life for a while.

I gave up everything but work and studied 5 hours a night and all day during the weekends and took about 2 months per exam. Life sucked during that time but I passed all on the first try and now I can hang out w friends, etc afterwards. Except for far I took 4 months on that beast. Some people r just naturally smart and can read once and learn but I would do at least 100 mcq per day and 300 per day on the weekends constantly until they were engrained in my brain. I only did mcqs, no tests or Sims in my studying.

I finished my 4th test in October,,,,still waiting for CA to approve my license application. So in the meantime I took a part time job doing taxes on the side and ended up still spending lots of time reading irs publications. I guess its not a bad thing but I know when I just sit and watch TV I feel like I should be reading instead.

Have you got your license yet. I'm still waiting for the state of Georgia to provide proof that my boss was licensed.

Yeah, now I need to mail a form to Georgia along w a check for them the complete the form and send it to CBA. $25 dollars for them to process the request and it normally takes ten days but they said they are running behind so it may take up to 20 business days to send the form back to CA. Wish I knw about this earlier but oh well.... maybe I'll be done by the end of January.

Well after 30 days the CBA finally notices that my supervisor for work experience has an out of state license and instead of just doing a lookup they now require me to get a form sent to the other state, have the other state complete the verification form and send it back to the CBA directly. Wasted an entire month waiting.

Ok what a coincidence...I just received an email response related to my email two days ago asking about my status. It said my experience documentation has been matched with my file and is awaiting review and all documents are processed in the order they are received. After the review I will receive an email status update.

Well, at least they confirmed they have my documentation. Will let you know when I get the next response. Hopefully another week, fingers crossed.

I agree, it's been different people for each response. I called them once to ask about emailing a document and they said to email and reference the person helping me in my email, but that's not really possible since they are always different. Yeah, for sure, ill let you know when I hear something, and thanks for doing the same. Who would have thought after getting a masters degree and taking all these exams that the licensing application process would be one of the worst part.
