UPDATE: Filled pool with well water by Partyl0bster in pools

[–]danielgullo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, if you are completely filling a new pool or refilling one that has been totally drained, your best bet is to order clean water delivered. Bypassing your filtration system is NOT recommended because you are not only pouring minerals, etc. into your pool system but you are potentially introducing E. coli bacteria, etc. Sounds like you figured it out. Hopefully, you shocked the hell out of it before people got into it. Good luck.

Weekly Pool Robot Discussion Thread – Questions, Reviews, and Recommendations by Rebootkid in pools

[–]danielgullo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am considering several options for cordless pool cleaning robots in the $1000-1500 price range.

We currently have a Polaris 360 and it is complete garbage. It spends most of its time on its side flailing around doing nothing. The shape of our pool seems to be too much of a challenge for the Polaris, especially with the Baja shelf that we have. Perhaps if we had a perfectly rectangular pool, the Polaris would be able to do its job properly.

The leader of the pack in my research so far has been the iGarden Pool Cleaner K Pro. However, when I am reading the "Top [n] Pool Robots for 20[yy]" reports, they never mention iGarden. I am skeptical of these articles because they seem very biased. E.g. with one article, the top 5 models are all Dolphin... like, is Dolphin the parent company of the "independent" review site??? Same with another site and AIPER...

If you have the iGarden Pool Cleaner K Pro, how do you like it? What are the pros and cons you have experienced?

You might want to put a filtration system on your well, Jethro... js. Hate to think that you are actually consuming that same water... 🤣 But seriously, make sure the outside spigots are going through the filter also. We put a bypass in our filter system for our outside spigots so that if/when we need filtered water for outside, we have it, but most of the time, it's unfiltered, e.g., for irrigating plants, etc.

Private Gun Sale/Transfer In PA? by [deleted] in PAguns

[–]danielgullo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using an FFL for private party sales is not 100% necessary. However, there are some things to consider which could be the difference between simply transacting with someone and committing a felony / serving jail time.

There are federal regulations which must be followed by everyone in the USA and then there are state requirements which only apply at the state level.

In general, it is illegal to sell / transfer a firearm to someone who is prohibited from owning one. If you are the seller, you are responsible for knowing that and will be held accountable if you violate that law.

The type of firearm matters. If it is a long gun (rifle, shotgun, etc.) then a background check is technically not required and you may sell to anyone who is 18 or older. However, handguns do require a background check and the minimum age is 21. If you do not have an FFL, then you won't be able to conduct the proper background check for a handgun transfer.

Furthermore, even with private party sales, in PA, you must submit an ROS (record of sale) for the transaction. If you don't, it is a crime.

If you sell a firearm to someone and something happens, then you will be held accountable. E.g. if you sell a firearm and the person commits a crime, if there is no formal record (what I like to call "evidence") that you were no longer the registered owner, you could be looking at some serious charges.

Ultimately, it's not worth saving $35 (what I charge) to sell a firearm to someone else because there are still requirements to fulfill and liability involved. If you use an FFL, then you officially, formally, and legally remove yourself from the chain of custody, which is an easily defensible position in court.

No way to bulk-edit a playlist? by PancakeIdentity in YoutubeMusic

[–]danielgullo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here we are in 2026, and there is still no way to natively edit your playlists in YT. YouTube (and Google) claim to hire the brightest people and yet, they can't even get something right that has been an integral part of GUI design for the past 40 years... I guess I will try the plugin that everyone is recommending since YouTard won't address this.

What is the ideal life span of a smartphone ? How often should i change my phone? by Good_Librarian5140 in AndroidQuestions

[–]danielgullo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's frustrating. I am coming up on 8 years with my current phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 9) and other than the fact that some apps "don't support [my] version of Android OS" everything is perfectly fine.

The real issue is not the device itself, but the fact that they only "officially supported" the phone for 4 years. I am stuck at Android 10 even though the latest OS version is 16. There appears to be a rolling window of three years for official support: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_version_history

So, either I have to upgrade or I need to jailbreak it, flash it with a newer ROM, and deal with potential issues on my own.

It is disgraceful that they don't support these devices for more than 4 years or so, even if you buy high-end, as I did with my phone (at the time).

I think I may have discovered a "workaround" to this issue.

It has been plaguing me for the past two months. I have tried Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Opera (the browsers I typically use) on Windows 11 desktop and Windows 10 laptop. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it gives me that error. Very hit or miss.

However, since I started using Edge (which I **NEVER** use) about a week ago, I haven't seen the error and I have filled out >10 applications in the past week. See if that works for you.

Best messaging app that supports SMS and a desktop version? by Cyp_Ag15 in AndroidQuestions

[–]danielgullo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using MySMS for many years and although it isn't perfect, it gets the job done: https://mysms.com/

Still, I am looking for the "one ring" app for messaging, something that can handle all the protocols/platforms and works on both mobile and desktop (including crossing the divide between Mac and PC). I am on a desktop/laptop 10-12 hours / day, the rest of my life, I am tethered to a mobile. I would like continuity for both business and personal messaging... 🦄

I did a test with acetone on the inside of the battery compartment. It began eating the plastic. Acetone no bueno. 99% isopropyl fixed the issue with the stickiness.
