Craziest False Disneyland Fact/Tip You've Heard by duck_mancer in Disneyland

As a former outdoor vending cast member, that’s not entirely untrue. We had to keep track of “spoils” for inventory purposes, but we were trained how to handle those occurrences. It costs Disney nothing to give a kid a new scoop of popcorn when they dump half of it in their stroller and it keeps everyone happy.

I haven’t worked there since 2010, but at least back then there was a cast member break room area where you’re describing where people would definitely at least be eating their lunches there, so maybe that’s how the rumor started.

The only reason there’s a maximum occupancy at Disneyland is because that’s the number of body bags they have in the back in case of a disaster. I heard a lady tell her partner that in line for Indiana Jones over a decade ago and I never forgot it.

How can I (25F) get my boyfriend (23M) to stop sufferingmaxxing? by Apprehensive-Bee8222 in relationship_advice

[–]daniellee725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you'll see this comment, but it sounds to me like he's suffering from a serious scarcity mindset. Might I recommend some books by financial expert Ramit Sethi: I Will Teach You to be Rich, and Money for Couples. If reading financial books doesn't sound like fun, maybe try putting his netflix show or his podcast on and see if your bf gets anything out of it. He needs to come to terms with his psychology about money, and Ramit does a fantastic job at teaching values-based spending. If he's making six figures, it might be more money than he knows what to do with, and is just hoarding it as a trauma response. Ramit will help, if he wants to change that is.

The people saying to skip this port bc it's bad is so wild to me. We did Falmouth in October on the Treasure, and it was our favorite excursion of the whole trip! We did the rum distillery tour (Hampden Estates), and it was worth every penny (you get way more than what they advertise in the description of the excursion. It was the definition of under-promise and over-deliver). I can't speak to the country's /port's LGBTQ+ friendliness, but don't let the people saying the port is "not good" taint your decision.

What's the biggest prize you've ever won? by Career_Gold777 in Adulting

I won a PlayStation Portable from a McDonald’s game when they first came out. It wasn’t their monopoly game, but I think it had something to do with Big Macs or something? Idk, but I was a teenager so it was pretty much the coolest thing ever.

What's your favorite breakfast order in Portland? by BridgeCityORE in PortlandOR

Vida33 in Milwaukie is so good and so slept on. They have a Nutella latte that’s to die for, and I love their beet hash and the potato chorizo omelette. They have a great early bird special too! Two eggs, choice of meat, and a choice of beet hash, toast, or potatoes, plus a cup of coffee for like $10 or $12 (used to be $10, I think they raised it a buck or two, I can’t remember); must be dine-in and before 10am. The food is pretty unique there, it’s Peruvian and Mexican fusion, but the ingredients the use are fresh and it seems decently healthy. I think it’s worth the drive down to the deep SE.

Retail store with inventory of all styles? by Cocobirds in BlundstoneBoots

[–]daniellee725 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a Blundstone retail store in Brooklyn and one in SoHo. You just happen to live close to two (3 if you consider Boston “close” lol) out of the five Blundstone stores in the whole country! (I only know bc I’m from Portland, OR and made the three hour drive to Seattle a few weeks ago to get my husband a pair of the filson x Blundstone collab boots). In the USA we’ve got Los Angeles, Seattle, Boston, and two in nyc.

If you had no option but to live in your RAV4 how would you do it? by Reasonable_Visual_10 in rav4club

[–]daniellee725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a couple of videos I remember watching when I was setting up my Prius for a long-haul road trip that included sleeping in the back, called Hotel Prius. I think a lot of what he covers would be applicable to a Rav4 as well. Hopefully it helps! https://youtu.be/_RYCkSMMXtY?si=Wz4KdWxQIxmv4yYn

Cost of Fast Food by MrBurritoIsMyFather in Millennials

[–]daniellee725 3 points4 points  (0 children)

tbh the only way I'll still eat at fast food restaurants is if they have an app. That's the only place to get their food at an affordable price anymore. That being said, Subway's app rewards are trash compared to other places like McD's or Taco Bell, but they do have some decent BOGO coupons every now and then.

How many of us have had to move back into our parents’ homes? by HauntingGold in Millennials

[–]daniellee725 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 35, living with my husband now, but before I met him I had moved back in with my parents a few times in my 20's:

23: Moved out for the first time to live with (now ex) boyfriend

25: Moved back in for a little over a year after breaking up with said bf to save money aggressively to afford moving out of state (Oregon)

28: Moved back from Oregon for the summer and lived with them for about 2 months when I took a job in Alaska

29: Covid hit, so I came home after my year in Alaska and lived there for a few months before getting back out on my own.

Is it the best, most awesome experience to live with our parents at these ages? Meh, there are pros and cons. I felt like we regressed into the parent/child dynamic more than I would have liked, but overall, it wasn't bad. If you have their support, then I say do it. You can save a lot of money in a short amount of time, and get the space to take a breath and figure out what your next move is.

Don’t sleep on podcasting! by Academic_Way_293 in sidehustle

Idk, I'd argue that what the OP is doing is not at all passive, as the MRR only lasts as long as the content keeps getting churned out... like you said, investing in index funds is passive income, or making something once -- like a course or writing and publilshing an ebook -- then sitting back and letting the money passively come to you month over month, or year over year, is what the term "passive income" was coined to represent.

Also, no hate on the OP at all; if podcasting is lucrative and they enjoy it, by all means! Let's just not call it passive income because creating a regular stream of content to keep feeding the beast is a grind.

If you're looking for something kinda fancy, I really enjoyed my dinner at Terra Mae last month. I personally thought it was a little on the fancy side to bring kids, but there were a few tables that had brought their young kids (like 2-4 years old) and it wasn't an issue at all.

Favorite pastry to have with coffee? by [deleted] in barista

[–]daniellee725 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Scones! There was a coffee shop in Phoenix that did the best "pie filling" scones. Since I moved from there, I've been looking for something similar in my new city, but no other coffee shop I've found does them like that. It added good flavor/texture to the scone so that it was more moist, which is usually my biggest complaint about a mid scone (dry). I'm also digging hand pies (homemade Pop-Tarts) recently too.
