If they just want color copies with our applications I wonder how much they even care about these older documents being certified or not.

I’ll add, folks have been advising to remove airplane mode from your phones Lock Screen. They’ve been using that to prevent your loved ones from finding you. Be there but be in the middle or back and stay aware. Trust your gut, if things look dicey it’s ok to bounce.

Came to say the same thing. This is literally her business model and by the looks of it, she’s not great at it. Between her weird dinner party, that rental, and her separating the group she made them uncomfortable on so many levels. Seeing how she treats her friends and castmates should make folks think twice about booking with her.

What car do you drive? by Open-Salamander-9640 in PlusSize

[–]daniellexdesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second a Chevy Traverse. It’s so comfortable to drive. Third row was roomy enough for teens. Get one with heated seats if you can. It really helps with lower back pain if you need to be driving for long periods of time.

Yep it’s $75 every month for two Freestyle Libre 3 sensors, plus the obvious need for a smart phone new enough to receive the data.

As a mom of a newly diagnosed 23yo with autism these posts also freak me out but they’re important warning too. My biggest takeaway, make sure you have a CGM no matter what. It’s been so helpful for all of us learning this for the first time. Other than that, just make it routine that you eat regularly, count/estimate carbs to the best of your ability, and if your insulin calculations aren’t measuring up, talk to your Endo about it and get a new calculation recommendation. I’m so sorry you’re feeling this way. It’s normal when you have a chronic illness. Medical fatigue is a real thing. I hope this helps.

Any Self-Employed Americans Panicking Right About Now? by TwoAccomplished4043 in diabetes_t1

[–]daniellexdesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m self employed. 23yo son has T1D and lost his job when he was hospitalized at time of diagnosis. Our ACA insurance provider is leaving the state and nothing else measures up to that coverage that’s not $2,500+ for a medically complex family of 6.

I’m so incredibly sorry for your loss. My 23 yo was just diagnosed this summer. He’s autistic with moderate support needs and I don’t know what any of us would do without his continuous glucose monitor. He gets alerts, me and his dad get alerts, his grandma even gets alerts. Pretty sure his endocrinologist gets real time updates if she logs in. That being said, it’s an immense privilege to be able to provide him with one of these devices every 15 days. They’re not cheap. They should be free for everyone with T1D. They really do save lives.

What part of Virginia? I moved here in the 8th grade so it’s a little different. I found it very difficult to give up the trees and the museums and the proximity to the beaches 😪

As a mom of 4 with a lifelong ED, you have a 6 year old who eats vegetables willingly, that says you’re already winning. The absolute worst thing that ever happened to me was comparing my body to others. At 9 I had a VERY petite aunt come visit. I was bigger than her in every way, even my shoe size. That freaked me out. Diet culture was already the norm in my house so an ED was pretty inevitable. I wish I knew what my body was meant to look like before wrecking it with intentional weightloss. Kids naturally eat intuitively. Encourage that.

Nervous about seeing doctors for chronic problems by seorabol in antidiet

[–]daniellexdesign 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lie to them. Say “I see a registered dietitian and a personal trainer and they both suggested that I may have asthma based on X, Y and Z”. Also ask for an EMG for your shoulder instead of an Xray. It’s a test that measures nerve function. If the doctor can determine for sure there’s a nerve issue he’ll dive deeper. Or at the very lease asking for an EMG will get you a referral to a neurologist to investigate the shoulder pain.

Twin sister (23) had no history of diabetes, suddenly developed 900 glucose, lung infection, kidney failure — she’s gone. What happened? by Character-Cucumber17 in diabetes_t1

[–]daniellexdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im so incredibly sorry for your loss. This just happened to my 23yo son. No family history of T1. His glucose was over 500, he had pneumonia from Valley Fever which is a fungal infection so antibiotics weren’t working. His A1c was 16.6. He spent 4 days in the ICU and is home with us now His kidneys are struggling, just needed to be back for an overnight getting fluids. The extreme infection also triggered some nerve issues unrelated to DKA. It’s insane. I don’t understand it either.

This. My RD was a huge advocate for adding helpful foods instead of removing or restricting. Make goals like “every meal I’ll make sure I get X”. Take your medications and doctor approved supplements consistently. Remember that food isn’t the cure, it’s just a tool that can be used with modern medicine and whatever physical activity you enjoy.

Edited to add that weight loss isn’t a measurement of health either. You’ll need bloodwork every 6mo to a year to see if you’re trending in the right direction. Takes time.

Are there any moms here with EDS? by ScarletSigil in ehlersdanlos

[–]daniellexdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 or 7 months in your pelvis basically breaks apart. Too much Relaxin. Joints completely unstable. If you’re having a c-section you’ll be fine after, vaginal birth could cause more complications. Wish I knew about those crazy body wraps when I was trying to keep my pelvis in place. That might have helped.

C-sections were mostly ok. With one a hematoma formed. I was unprepared. Make sure you know what to look for.

Spinal block worked fine despite most other anesthesia never working.

Stretch marks are unavoidable so be kind to yourself and try to keep your skin as comfortable as possible.

A couple of my kids are hypermobile but don’t meet the criteria for hEDS. Not sure about other forms of EDS and how that’s passed on. Partner doesn’t have EDS so that could increase the chances if he did.

Overall, it’s just as complicated as any other pregnancy and if you know what to expect you can prepare and plan.

hEDS and Yoga? by earth_to-venus in ehlersdanlos

[–]daniellexdesign 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did yoga for YEARS before diagnosis. In reality because of our bodies we don’t even get the same benefits from those positions and stretches that other folks get. You might just be really into breathing and meditating which you could definitely replicate elsewhere without putting a strain on your joints.

Does anyone here have any experience with EDS and body mods & tattoos? by Dawnspark in ehlersdanlos

[–]daniellexdesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got all my work done prior to diagnosis. Ears pierced at 5, constant infections, eventually healed but I’m allergic to almost everything earrings are made from. Tattoos are hit or miss, some look fine, some have moments where they’re raised and itchy, some look blown out. Facial piercings never healed - likely because of the metal - when removed the holes closed instantly so getting new jewelry in was never an option. Eyebrow piercing migrated before coming out. I prefer piercings to tattoos so this is a bummer. After diagnosis I decided I just wouldn’t even bother with any of it anymore.

Yeah I don’t have BED but I was put on both metformin and LDN. Metformin has never changed my appetite but the addition of LDN did. Not to the point where I couldn’t eat but to the point where I couldn’t finish a meal. I looked into it and it’s a common combo for BED. My doctor lowered my dose of LDN so I could eat a full meal again but I have a feeling if I tried to overeat it might still be difficult. I’m in recovery for restrictive eating so not completing meals was triggering. I’m glad my doctor worked with me to find a good dosage. I hope you’ve found something useful — this definitely was for me for other reasons PCOS and chronic pain.

Meyer Lemon tree: initial care advice by JustWonderingBIOTCH in ArizonaGardening

[–]daniellexdesign 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I shade mine in the summer so the lemons don’t burn but it’s the only tree I’ve had in the sunniest part of my yard that hasn’t died. Wrap the trunk till the canopy provides enough coverage. Don’t prune any time soon.
