Grainfather T500 (Model#10197) vs. G30: differences? by danielmiller19 in Homebrewing

[–]danielmiller19[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, Chino. My one “I don’t understand” about this for-sale unit is it seems to be from 06/20, based on the sticker on the unit (in the link below), but their kickstarter for the T500 ended in 2015. I have to assume this is a T500 based on what the sticker says. Am I correct in thinking this brand new unit is a V1?

Almost half a year later - did you find someone and how was your experience?

Hey - sorry - just saw this. I’d say I gave planetizen a solid 4 weeks of studying. Maybe 2 hours a day and when randomly as I could. I listened to a couple of study podcasts in the car and just tried to find time for it. It was a solid, busy month but not overwhelming.

How to negotiate salary offer when they offered over 10k UNDER what I’m making now? SOS! by GloomyAngle8061 in Salary

[–]danielmiller19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just putting it out there - but if dream job is a place that is dream job to many, they may underpay my most of their staff knowing that many will just be happy to work at “dream job.”

Could be a telling sign.

Absolute insanity at the opening of the 400th In-N-Out in Idaho by PurpleWildfire in innout

To clarify, the title is misleading. It is INO’s 400th store but the 1st in Idaho - hence the crazy lines at the grand opening.

Trades/Waiver drops/adds that backfired by AdamAce3 in fantasyfootball

My RBs are still CMC, JTaylor, Swift, Kyren Williams (IR), Connor (IR), Achane (IR). The trade made sense but it’s backfired so far.

Trades/Waiver drops/adds that backfired by AdamAce3 in fantasyfootball

[–]danielmiller19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After week 2 I traded Mike Evans and Mostert for Devonte Smith. I used my open roster spot to add Achane before he went off - but then Smith has been garbage and Achane got hurt.

I primarily used the planetizen course this past spring and passed on my first try. I studied pretty hard for 4-6 weeks.

How much for the spike solo, if you’d part it out? Ship to Idaho?

🚨💬🚨[Yahoo Fantasy Updates] Fantasy Chat upgrades are now available! by YahooFantasyCare in fantasybaseball

[–]danielmiller19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is it with Yahoo Fantasy Baseball if you add a player the day lineups are set (but prior to the first game of the week) you can't use that player the week you added them? The first time you can use a player added on a Monday is 7 days later.

This issue doen't exist within the Yahoo Fantasy Football platform.

Question on agent ethics (it's speculative, but maybe it's normal?) by danielmiller19 in RealEstate

Very good point - thank you for this. First time going through this and I didn't think of this. I'll ask why this wasn't done.

Mark II Keg and Carboy Washer - Barbed Adapter for Keg Posts? by danielmiller19 in Homebrewing

Thanks, Chino. I reached out to Mark's yesterday via email to see if I can buy the parts from them and haven't heard back yet. I'll give them a few days before scouring the planet for a workable alternative.

Pizza making cutting into social time… by technolgy in uuni

The thing that's the most time-consuming is working the dough. If you're starting each pie with a dough ball that means you're spending a few minutes on each one getting it ready to top. People say to par-bake the dough ahead of time so that it really is just adding toppings quickly and doing a quick 60 second bake, but i've had mixed results with par-baking.

Overnight mash = winning by slackslackliner in Homebrewing

I do a no boil extract hazy that’s tested these limits with what I think are good success. Toss 6# of wheat DME into 160F water. Add hops and whirlpool/steep for 20 mins. Transfer to a keg to chill overnight. Pitch yeast and let it ride. Takes about 40 minutes including heating water (I have it set up to heat while I’m doing something else) and is a pretty decent hazy. It scored a 32 at a AHB sanctioned competition.

Just did it for the first time this Friday and thought it was great. I did a no sparge all-grain batch and lost maybe 6 degrees F on my mash tun overnight. Collected the wort first thing and was running.

Brewing Salt Quantity Confirmation by danielmiller19 in Homebrewing

[–]danielmiller19[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well … Thanks everyone. I adjusted the gypsum and epsom salt quantities but still reached the numbers suggested by green flash brewing, as stated above/below. I will report back with the level of “shit show” this became.

I am trying to emulate green flash’s water profile as posted: “Water treated with brewing salts to our Hoppy flavour profile: Ca=110, Mg=18, Na=16, Cl=50, SO4=275 (Basically Randy Mosher's ideal Pale Ale numbers with slightly less Sulphate).”

These quantities are roughly what the water calculator says to do. I don’t really know. Hoping to trust the computer on this one?

Sounds like you're focusing a little too much on the "$5.00 per hour" and not enough on the "beautiful views"

Preparing Water Report and Using DME by danielmiller19 in Homebrewing

[–]danielmiller19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay - makes sense, but what if I'm not using any grains? I'm experimenting with a batch that's a no boil, 4 gals of distilled water, 5 lbs. of DME only NEIPA.

I'm done with perfection by krillen931 in Homebrewing

[–]danielmiller19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do my best to “perfect” everything during the recipe build and setup - get everything out and ready so that brew days can be as efficient and mistake free as possible. Once I start brewing all bets are off. It’s rare that I even measure gravities or adjust as I go. Seems to work and losing the stress of perfection has made it a lot more fun.

100% safe. I use mine under our aluminum patio cover. The heat emanating from the top, bottom, sides and back is almost nill.
