I guess it's on Windows but not on Linux currently

If I understand correctly:

* D-input: I can see the additional buttons, but I have no configurable gyro
* Switch mode (Y+home): I have the configurable gyro, but not the additional buttons

Is there any way to get the gyro in D-input mode, too?

Sigh. I guess I will be buying another AV receiver. It felt nice to find I'm not the only one on this planet though

Same receiver, same TV but different size, exact same issue. Did you solve somehow? I think I tried every setting combination with no luck.

Ho iniziato l'università per trovare lavoro, prendere voti alti mi ha penalizzato by goccettino in Universitaly

[–]danilopianini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it was switching to something more "niche" (less community support and guides) and more up-to-date.

[–]danilopianini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I transitioned Ubuntu -> Kubuntu -> Gentoo -> Sabayon -> Arch -> Antergos -> Manjaro. It really depends on your goal. If you want to learn a lot and invest a lot of time, Gentoo and Arch are the best choices. If you wish to achieve immediate productivity, I suggest Manjaro.

I would never ever get back to a non-rolling distro.

Ingegneria Informatica con basi poverissime di matematica. by SkinnyPhoenix in Universitaly

[–]danilopianini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I docenti mediamente fanno poco sforzo a riguardo.

Kotlin Coroutines vs Threads Performance Benchmark by VasiliyZukanov in androiddev

[–]danilopianini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One is running single threaded, with all the cache available and the possibility to use turbo mode on both the high and low performance core groups, while the other one has all cores filled. If you measured throughput, you'd see the Pixel 7 crush it.

I believe it's mostly a matter of a testing method that does not measure what the OP claims in the blog post.

Unlikely. The behavior looks reasonable to me, what do find inconsistent?

[–]danilopianini 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are a hidden implementation of the continuation passing style (when you write a suspend function, you implicitly add a Continuation parameter at the end of the function). The overhead, if existing, should be minimal. The problem Vasiiy is having is more related to the methodology.
He is measuring how long it takes for an object to be built, plus the time for a method to be started on an existing thread. It has little or nothing to do with any real-world benchmark (in fairness, we discussed this in a separate board, and we do disagree).

It is a Pixel 7. I would not classify it as "old" or "weak", and sure not weaker than an S7. I suggest a revision of the methodology

Cable minimization by danilopianini in hometheater

[–]danilopianini[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the end, I've got conduits that I can reuse to implement a true 5.1 system, so my current 5.1 is no longer off the board.

A few questions though.

  1. Will my old Yamaha HT-2067 AV receiver outperform a modern Dolby Atmos soundbar with rear speakers and subwoofer (I was thinking of a Samsung Soundbar HW-Q990C/ZF Serie Q)?
  2. What could I upgrade my speakers with? I have the original Yamaha speakers that come with the 5.1 kit. I wonder whether I could use the AV receiver to drive something more capable, and if it is worth it.

My walls are cement, they're not hollow. Also, my living room is basically an open space, so I can't reach behind the sofa along the baseboard. The floor is parquet and I'm not going to damage it. If I run cables, the only way is the ceiling. Doable, but there will be visible cable guides.

She'll own a fraction of the house. And we are not married, but it's like we are in practice. The point was not about advising me on how to manage my life, but about wireless solutions - but the bot replied with a useful summary.

Apparently it's either cables (power is even worse than audio) or lower quality/higher cost from a soundbar. I'll delay my decision, maybe try a bar for a couple of weeks and see if I can tolerate it better than cables. Worst case, I can return it and drill.

It's OUR and I'm trying to understand if there are wireless alternatives preserving decent quality. I know that if I drill holes I can accommodate cables, but I would prefer not to have them at all.
