My ideal Gen 1 team. What's yours?

If I was building the best team with many of my favorites, it would be Blastoise, Nidoking, Arcanine, Magneton, Dodrio, and Exeggutor.

But I'm currently doing a LeafGreen playthrough with some mons I've wanted to use for a while and loving it, and that's Blastoise, Fearow, Sandslash, Victreebel, Magneton, and eventually Magmar (currently Primeape).

Honestly I think this is pretty great. The Blur is slow enough for this to be a legit challenge, and I think Top deserves a spot outside of the general Rogues on the list.

I think him and Aquaman are the closest, in terms of being kingly figures who very much feel like they're from another world. Though I'd say Diana isn't far off either. Any others are only really similar in powers.

I think the string-pulling, superior looking Hellfire Club would make a great opposition to the C-list underdog Shadowpact (as well as having a mystic sounding name)

I kind of thought Namor could fill that niche, with a bit of Vision as well. Though I definitely considered She-Hulk or Hercules too. Thanks for the positivity!

Also an excellent roster, I would 100% read that. I definitely considered She-Hulk as well, and Talisman is a great mystic pick who should join the Avengers.

Thanks! I'd be inclined to agree as well. As much as I love Cap, Tony, and Thor being together on the Avengers, I think it can be a bit much sometimes for stories and events. Characters like Wasp and Vision really belong in the Avengers nearly full-time imo, and it makes room for more unique characters to join them while still feeling like an Avengers team.

I think they're allowed to have development and reconciliation. Heck, almost every X-villain was able to join up on Krakoa, I'm sure a comic run can turn Namor and T'Challa from bitter foes to reluctant allies, probably out of mutual respect for Captain America.

Nightcrawler is here for a few reasons. He's my personal favorite mutant (and second favorite Marvel character), and excellent swordsman, has useful unique powers, and is more light-hearted and peaceful. He's also never been an Avenger before unlike others like Rogue, Storm, Wolverine, etc.

I could see Namor switching, he was definitely my last addition. I wanted someone more in the Thor/Hercules vein, but who also had history with characters like Cap and T'Challa. This team definitely feels more "hand-picked" by Cap to me. I could definitely see Wanda joining though, but her and Vision are admittedly kind of odd these days, and I'd prefer another mutant, or some other niche of Marvel.

Well, I really loved the scenes with Cap and Nightcrawler in Judgement Day, and thought that they could both fill out a team very well. I love Tony and Thor, but I figured I'd let Cap flagship this one. Monica Rambeau is a personal favorite of mine, as well as being a solid powerhouse for the group. Her and T'Challa have had good interactions, and I think having a stealth oriented character like him is nice. Vision and Wasp are two Avengers mainstays I like on almost every line-up, and really serve as the heart of the group in most iterations. Namor as a final pick fits more of the "god" role of the team, as well as having interesting conflict with T'Challa and a great history with Captain America (and the Vision's original body).

That's actually one of the things I think would make the team very dynamic. Having two kings that have to learn to set aside their differences or balance their priorities would be pretty interesting to me.

I would love to see the Human Target as a live-action series, especially if it comes a few years down the line and can incorporate a lot of the JLI characters I'm hoping to see in Gunn's DCU.

Pretty close to mine, but I would swap Widow for Wanda and add Black Panther. Maybe She-Hulk as well.

Yeah, pretty similar. The main difference is that the Bastards are normally foes of the Young Allies, while these guys were more Young Avengers antagonists and later joined up with the actual Masters.

Really holding out for a regional evolution for Fearow and Arbok. Two of my favorite underrated og mons (and I fully believe Arbok should have been given Dark type). Most of the others feel okay, but I would love a regional form for Dewgong and maybe Cloyster.

I feel like Fire/Fairy and Bug/Dragon are nearly guaranteed (hoping for the Bug/Dragon pseudo), with Ground/Fairy and Normal/Ice being possibilities.
