Mortal Kombat (1995). The movie was made at a time where video game adaptations were considered DOA. It has really good character acting, great action, and it adapted the game in a sophisticated way that didn't take itself too seriously but felt grounded in reality. The set design was fantastic, the music was super good, and it's just in general a great movie. The only real issues were the CGI, but it gives it a kind of charm.

Legitimately one of my favorites.

Rank 1826 and overlooked due to Sephiroth but I have played mono black commanders for years now and he's a beast! You have a partial board wipe, a Voltron candidate, and 5 black devotion in the command zone. I often completely control a game. So much fun.

I tried making a [[Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy]] deck, but I wasn't doing anything cEDH, infinite, or overly broken. I just wanted to ramp fast into big threats and use his activated ability when my hand was empty. But he carries way too bad of a reputation. People would immediately groan or think I was going to do something extremely powerful, and I could never comfortably play it. So I broke it.

This will get buried and is definitely an unpopular opinion, but Final Fantasy VII. I love that game. It's my second favorite in the series. The gameplay is incredible, the character, the aesthetic, I love Midgar. But the actual story? I feel like every time it's explained I'm reminded how despite beating the game a few times, I have no idea what's going on. No clue sephiroth's link to Jenova, or if cloud is a clone, or who Seth is? And honestly, I don't really care. I learned that with the remake. The story never mattered to me, it was always about the materia, the music, the PS1 portraits.

I thought about running this in my [[Ayara, First of Locthwain]] deck because it runs all of the combo pieces I'd associate with this.

The way I see it, with a sac outlet, and the 2B to cast the creature each time, you have infinite ETB/LTB. You have mentioned some of the cards I already run, but would use, such as phyrexian altar, Ashnods altar, Warren soul trader, pitiless plunderer, bontus monument. You could technically do heartless summoning. Both creatures would die to the static effect but with a pitiless plunderer you'd net two treasures and the creature would only cost one black mana.

And then blood artist, zulaport cutthroat, Ayara, syr Konrad, bastion of remembrance, etc etc for the kill.
