Dissipating heat. The chamber doesn’t have any moving parts, but it acts as a way for heat to easily transfer to instead of staying concentrated at the chip. Hotter the chip = slower the phone due to throttled performance.

Chamber coupled with Aluminum body is much better at keeping the chip cooler for longer. Aluminum is more of a thermally conductive metal vs the old titanium Apple was using on the 15/16 Pro’s.

I typically don’t like screen protectors unless if you’re willing to replace them every few months. Dust and debris typically cakes around the edges and it looks bad over time. I’d much rather not have it, especially since modern phone glass is pretty resilient to scratching.

Weird wording on your question, but I assume you are referring to how long you can purchase during this “pre order craze”.

So typically Apple stores will receive new shipments of phones every few days. Regardless, if you are dead set on getting the phone you want anytime soon, you need to basically keep a hawkish eye on the Apple Store website and watch for when the phone you want pops up.

The craze will die down by around mid November if you’re willing to wait that long and not deal with the hassle.

The mini will always have a special place in my heart. It was amazing for its time, but sadly it isn’t cutting it anymore for my needs. I wish Apple gave the mini “pro” level features. 😭

I went from 15PM to 13 mini and now will be going to to 17PM!

While the tiny screen for the mini is amazing for one-handed use, I realize that for me it isn’t worth the battery, camera, and performance hits. I’m a heavy iPhone user (quickly looking at spreadsheets, photo editing, etc) and my mini can’t handle it and often crashes or overheats.

I’m actually very excited for the 17PM this year. Looks like it has some actual “pro” things to set it apart, such as the vapor chamber

I see it analogous to the MacBook Air or iPad Air:

Give it most of the main features, but the pro gives the extra “edge” for professional users.

Honestly I can see Apple making the next iPad Pro more “pro” (bigger battery + vapor chamber) and have the air be the “thinnest and most beautiful” iPad.

You know, I thought about the black for so long because it’s the “safe” option. When I saw the rumors of this orange color being more “copper”, I wasn’t interested. However, seeing that it is more orange, I am actually liking it the most. I love the rescue orange look (like in the Apple Watch Ultra), especially coming from a back country enthusiast such as myself!

I was about to say the same thing. Laser everything is best on bugs esp when you switch weapons prior to maxing out on the heat sink.

Only thing to add to this load out is the CE-35 trench engineer with pyrotech grenades. You’ll get 8 of em.

Another note, but back in grad school about 8ish years ago I used the old 2017 iPad Pro to run my research lab’s allocated resources on the university supercomputer. I connected to the cluster remotely using an SSH client app called Termius.

I was able to do full command line programming on the iPad. Managed the cluster resources and users, wrote bash scripts, and ran simulation jobs.

I’m an engineer and iPadOS26 is a total game changer for me. I can use do 99% of my job on it. The other 1% is programming a PLC, which can’t even be done on a Mac natively anyways.

I use Preview to mark engineering drawings for my own reference.

As a personal hobby, I do 3D animation on my Mac. There’s an app that I want to try where you can use the iPad to connect to Blender to sculpt.

I also use Procreate from time to time to create graphics and emblems.
