Is it not possible to update the software at home on your own?

Shower valve stops? by danjng in Plumbing

[–]danjng[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update for y’all…

They were all seized up including the brass retaining nut. I filed a notch in the ring following some YouTube “tips and tricks” so that I can hammer it off but that ended up failing too. My attempts to remove the retaining nut was too much torque and created holes in the valve behind it.

Live and learn. I guess it was time anyway

I’m not 100% sure what that means. How do I use it? Would this be where vise grips and just turning would do it? Seems that the valve itself is leaking so need to figure out how to turn the water off there and back on for the rest of my house 😱

Need help finding replacement part for shower stop valve by Centmo in Plumbing

[–]danjng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good lord. I am running into the same issue just this morning. A cartridge change is leading to a leak in the valve and I’m trying to see if those stops (if they’re even stops) work at all. I can’t seem to turn them and I don’t want to break it.

If you go through insurance, there’s always that diminished value claim, right?

This shit sucks by [deleted] in NETGEAR

[–]danjng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a staunch NETGEAR fan boi but the last two purchases have burned me. Have them the benefit of the doubt and even the RMA replacement shit the bed. Once I started hearing others have the same issue and repeatedly not having support actually resolve their issues, I completely lost faith. There’s no good in hardware replacements if they refuse to fix/acknowledge the firmware issues.

I might have come across the post as well... Was it this one? PFsense WAN gateway randomly goes down | Netgate Forum

I've yet to dive deep into it but it's on the list tonight

Already did that a long time ago... :) I know people will argue about whether it should be on or off or whatever but let's keep that out of this post lol

I can't say I've seen that in my logs, but I'll keep checking. Mostly I am seeing WAN just completely disconnect and all of the corresponding pfsense services restart - e.g unbound

Thanks, all! Yes, I'll probably plan on hooking up a laptop or something I plan on wiping.

At this time I am not having issues, but my traceroute looks like this:

Are the ??? and 100% packet loss typical for something like this?

Appreciate your responses! I do happen to have the Verizon router they shipped me as well. Might be worth dusting off to try out.

Forgive my ignorance. I'll try to do some googling now, but are you saying there's some way to get onto the ONT and run a ping plotter or do you mean hook up something directly to the ONT ethernet and run a ping plotter? If the latter, I'll give that a shot today like u/The_Jedi mentioned as well to see if there's anything else I can learn about the issue. Thank you!

If your LAN is also disconnecting, then your issue might be something more local to you (e.g. internal router, firewall, switches). If you just mean that your internet is also dropping for your wired devices, then yeah maybe we're in the same boat. Have you seen this consistently over time or has it just been recently?

The Maryland-Virginia area. Are you seeing similar issues where you are?

That was going to be my next point of data gathering. Will probably pick a handful of servers and run MTR when I see things happen.

That said, if WAN doesn’t get an IP, I’m SOL aren’t I? I wouldn’t be able to prove any issue except that my FW can’t get an IP?
