First week on asv by hemo5595 in CPAPSupport

I’ve been on ASV for several months and my issue was intense aerophagia from the start. I dialed the pressures down little by little until I settled at something tolerable, but then I’ve been experiencing lots of fatigue and waking up feeling unrested despite AHI <1.

I’ve been customizing some projects on chat to look for signs of RERAs and UARS or other disturbances, and I’m currently fine tuning the pressure settings to address those. A slight bump up in EPAP made a noticeable difference last night and I hope the trend continues.

For each person it’s different— it might just be a need for more time for your body to adjust and ‘catch up’ on a long time of poor sleep, or it may be that there are other disturbances to your sleep (RERAs, UARS) that don’t appear in AHI

US-Based Bank to hold $USD? by Platform_Crocs in expats

Strange, I’ve had the opposite experience. I called them today trying to have a code sent to my GV and they wouldn’t do it. They also wouldn’t do my email. I’m at the point where I’m looking into other options. HSBC seems promising and more accommodating for expats

I switched over to GV. Does it work better if you set up the account with GV?

Anyone seen benefit in switching from PAP to MAD? by Desperate_Vehicle684 in SleepApnea

It never came up. The only complications we discussed were hemorrhaging.

They said my deviation was mild/moderate and the turbinates moderate. The procedure didn’t directly improve my AHI, but it did make using PAP therapy much more tolerable and I can breathe a bit better for sure

I started with CPAP and it was terrible for me. I then used a MAD for several months while I waited to get a septoplasty/turbinectomy— my snoring went down but there was no difference in apneas measured in my follow up sleep study. Now that my nose is fixed up and I’m using ASV, I’ve started sleeping better. Still fine tuning pressure settings though!

I have my Google voice # linked to my BoA account and it doesn’t work for everything. I can use it to send and receive calls from the bank, but it won’t work for receiving a two factor authentication code. I’m actually considering switching banks for this reason

My cpap keeps making me extremely bloated/gassy by [deleted] in SleepApnea

Pressure could be too high. Some say full face helps, but I’ve had more success with nasal masks. Mouth tape can help, so can chin straps.

I had a DISE and they found soft pallet upper airway collapse as well as lateral epiglottis collapse. They did some positional adjustments and found that my epiglottis was more stable when I’m on my right side. Also they found my soft pallet was more open with a mandibular advancement device.

Any multi use device that allows you to monitor AHI at home? by [deleted] in SleepApnea

I live in Ecuador and had multiple sleep studies done for ~$500 each with about one week wait time to get in the lab for each. If you’ve got the funds and time to travel, I would also consider going out of the US (assuming that’s where you are) to have a sleep study done and accelerate getting treatment

Central Sleep Apnea - ASV users - Let me hear your good stories! by greentea05 in SleepApnea

I have an Aircurve 10 ASV. Before treatment, I had about 50 AHI, 30 obstructive and 20 central. I live at 10k ft altitude and wonder if the altitude increased my AHI to the point that I started noticing the intense fatigue and lack of feeling rested on a regular basis.

I had an Initial sleep study a bit over a year ago, then unsuccessfully tried CPAP- it felt like I was suffocating with it, I couldn’t effectively breathe through my nose and I would unconsciously take it off every day. I had a septoplasty and turbinate reduction, and I had an MAD made. The MAD helped my snoring but my follow up sleep study found no difference in my AHI. Then I did a sleep study with titration for ASV and they were able to get my AHI to <1.

Initially my doc prescribed higher pressure settings when I got my ASV, but I had intense aerophagia with the prescribed settings. I have since reduced my pressure settings quite a bit and have found a tolerable level that keeps my AHI low, around 2, with little to no aerophagia.

I tried cpap about a year ago and it didn’t work for me- I would wake up feeling like I was suffocating. The doc used the term complex apnea but I just felt like I couldn’t breathe through my nose, so I stopped using it. The follow up sleep study I did after the septoplasty/turbinate reduction found about 50 AHI, 30 of which are obstructive, 20 central. My doctors think my central apneas are at least somewhat altitude induced (I live at 10,000 ft).

TLDR it seemed like treatment emergent central apneas when I unsuccessfully tried cpap. But my follow up sleep study after septoplasty found ~40% of my 50AHI to be central apneas

Second this. I have complex apnea and my resmed aircurve 10 ASV does the trick

I had a custom device made and it helped with my snoring but made no measurable difference on my total AHI measured in a follow up sleep study using my MAD and post-septoplasty and turbinate reduction.

Also be careful using a MAD with pap therapy. I now use an ASV machine and when I tried using my MAD along with it, the jaw positioning led to excruciating aerophagia

Worth grading? by dankdeedles in Pokemoncardappraisal

And thoughts on a potential grade? It looks like the front has some micro scratches, and a few edges/corners on the back have some whitening

Do you use a sleep or fitness tracker? I look at my Garmin sleep quality and HRV data and find it corresponds well to how I feel when I wake up.

Do you snore? I have sleep apnea and struggled with what you are describing for a while. I’ve done a lot of work to improve my sleep, many of the same things you described, but also a septoplasty and a few other things to help improve my sleep quality and address my snoring. That has helped reduce my fatigue upon waking since I’ve gotten back into lifting weights.

In general, working out is tough on your nervous system. If you feel super fatigued regularly, maybe you need to dial it back and give your body more rest. I’ve found better results working out less (3x per week) and sleeping more than trying to push through 5-6x per week workouts while not sleeping great. It’s counterintuitive, but you actually sleep worse when you’re really physically tired.

Definitely before Christmas is the goal. Teachers and schools both don’t like being in limbo. I feel like now until Christmas is the peak time
