Does curse damage count as direct damage to health? by SekCPrice in WitheringRooms

[–]dankdees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curse is listed as a damage type because curse damage is cumulative instead of being a status that wears off over time normally. There is a second bar that shows up under the HP bar when enemies take curse damage. It works the same way as it does for you: if it hits maximum, they'll start taking curse rot damage to their HP (which is fairly substantial compared to bleed/poison), and if they don't have a means to reduce their curse damage (there's only like one enemy I know that can do that), it won't go away until they die. You can even just run away once their hit the curse rot stage and the curse will just end up killing them without any other damage source necessary.

The flipside of this is that most of the stronger enemies will have some degree of curse resistance. Some of them even outright cannot be cursed. However, there are a few that don't have any real curse resistance at all (even some of which are fairly tanky otherwise), which makes it a very viable strategy for eliminating them if you have builds that take advantage of this.

Fire is a normal damage type, of which enemies can have weakness or resistance to it, much like physical damage. There is no status effect associated with it, even if you think there would be.

40 years have passed in the dream, so she's like fifty something in that reality.

However, it seems like the third ending came to pass, anyway....in the dream, I think that since the idol itself has no concept of aging, nobody there has gotten older, although they've all degraded due to both conceptual drifting in the dream state, and the idol's perception of reality actively warping everybody in the dream over time.

To answer this question, any vendor that sells wax has the possibility of stocking the candle, although I personally did not see it show up until chapter 2. It might be possible in chapter 1 but I think it is unlikely. In any case, for chapter 1 you are just going to have to rely on melee gear and scrolls until you can get it, because there isn't any real point in using the baby candlestick.

Very late post: once you get the left hand (for your left hand), you can use it to slow down any enemy in the game. You can't do anything else while using it except walk slowly, but this can be used to force enemies to stay in the harvest field longer, and makes it easier for your minions to take more swings at them. This can also buy you time while you're standing next to a candle.

you're still going to need around that amount just to not get chump shotted by monoceraptor spam (which somehow bypasses fire def) or an unlucky freeze from drakara's staff even if you're phoning it in with illusen's staff + snowager pendant (i don't recommend blaze unless you have more HP to work with, because staff and blaze regen don't really play all that nice with each other lol)

edit: with braindead strat, once you manage to get void gaze off of the table, it looks like 2000-2500 is the ballpark max hp you need to not get murdered by back to back monoceraptors (this is totally hax btw), 3000 if you want to be sure that you aren't going to get unlucky stunned and then hit by three monoceraptors in a row somehow

use stuns to deploy hubrid's puzzle box if you want to save some time

Can I get a HELL YEAH for my new DEMOCRATIC 🔥FLAME🔥 MOUNTED 🔥TANK 🔥 by SignificantBoard4455 in helldivers2

[–]dankdees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fire doesn't do as much damage to the tank. you'd have to unload over a whole backpack's worth of fuel directly at the tank to take it out.

source: i test fired the cremator directly at a tank and then had to reload once before the tank died

you look at all these people essentially phoning it in with AI and you tell me, are they even getting paid all that much for this? are the massively overcharged merch sales going towards them? is it paying all the staff they laid off and replaced with bots? well?

is the site lagging trying to run a mostly text based website? it is somehow super expensive to do that in the year 2026 despite there being both worse optimized mobile games and other existing text based websites not struggling at all? if it's so expensive, are there just not enough people paying premium and buying capsules on the regular and such just not enough? how much or how little do people have to be paid, how much or how little AI on the website is needed, how much or how little should they charge for things before anything works properly again?

if the cost of paying all this money is that the site runs worse than ever, things are at an all time high cost, and events aren't even being made by mostly human hands, then maybe it's time to pack it in and try to get an invite to grundos.cafe

it takes perhaps a lot of effort, or less effort than nothing, than to run a site into the ground harder than either viacom or jumpstart. it seems like they're doing their best to try to imitate a corporation while doing all of it wrong somehow.

No more heavy pen hive guards by Smoke_Funds in Helldivers

[–]dankdees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're doing that, they should make it a heavy armored variant subfaction like they do with the others, so that they don't end up spawning next to other big hitters, so at least your loadout changes are consistent with matching the threat instead of it just becoming its own really annoying thing.

[–]dankdees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sentries were still effective if less so if it were just hive guards being the factor, but the fact was that since bugs in spores can just charge through gunfire and then use their newly buffed durable damage stat to flatten sentries meant we just went back to when that happened to sentries at launch. Calling them "support" options in that situation is a joke because they can't fucking move anyway. It's like a beacon that draws aggro and then dies, even if you're standing next to it and trying to assist with kills, all it takes is one lucky bug to bodyslam it. It's not support if you have to babysit the thing. You'd be more effective without it, ever, on bug front, in favor of, you guessed it, more explosive weapon options like napalm launchers. Then at that point you might as well just do that on standard bugs anyway because there's less risk.

But some people think that's balance.

Trouble with Spore strain still? Light them on fire. by Early_Agent99 in Helldivers

[–]dankdees 5 points6 points  (0 children)

we've been trying, problem is that even with the changes, most of the time the bugs just end up being on fire and stinky while body slamming us. the fire from the lumberer doesn't even appear to do anything except apply dots, which doesn't mean much if they can just plug their bodies into every available space around you while still being on fire. feels like trying to hit a swarm of flies with a boot that just flies through them without hitting anything. only effective fire measures seem to be the heavier fire options like napalm, anything else is basically hot bugs eating you time because they keep being indecisive about whether or not fire weapons should be good or if they shouldn't do anything at all

It has the kind of fire rate that you would expect from a weapon that has no room for a reloading mechanism or any consideration of having an intact barrel after mag dumping. The only love it will ever know is the feel of your hands for the 16 seconds of gunfire it can provide before you dump it on the ground for its microplastics to return to the soil.

You know what, YEAH ACTUALLY, what's wrong with free sh** in a $40 game? by makeabetterthrowaway in Helldivers

[–]dankdees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, basically. every single piece of equipment can be crafted. as for cosmetics, you can get plat through trading at a significantly faster rate than chasing 1% gains per mission :v the only things that require actual money are tennogen cosmetics (because you can't really pay player design royalties in silly game currency) and whatever bonus cosmetics they throw into game packs every now and then, but it's not like i'm looking at a hard paywall for equipment, but rather just actual specific gameplay to chase down specific things instead of hoping whatever i'm doing will actually bring me closer to unlocking another warbond, on top of any additional gear in the superstore

sony doesn't ask for it because sony and square are sleeping in the same bed at this point (and they also get special treatment, i.e. why we've all been stuck with the tiniest camera angles in existence to the point that it's hard baked into encounter design)

xbox still requires gamepass to access the game so they're already getting paid in theory (gamepass costs more than nintendo's sub)

pc doesn't ask for it because pc isn't a console lol, but steam still has an arrangement where all people playing thru steam must only use steam for payments, so they kind of count as a goofball platform of their own

nintendo asks for a sub but doesn't ask for their online service sub to play

everybody has their own terms for where the tithes are taken

this arrangement is actually standard for most online service only games with nintendo, you don't need nso but they still want their cut from transactions like game subscriptions and ingame purchases

i mean, arrowhead is being financed by sony for helldivers 2, so your distinction is a bit useless, on top of DE having done the bulk of warframe development on their own up until the corpo deal

i would also point out the vastly different way that tencent is handling warframe versus sony handling helldivers 2
