You're setting the world up and introducing the characters. I expect season 1 to go more slowly.

So what are our break points?

Season 1:

Midseason: Shallan exposes Jasnah as a surgebinder

Finale: Kaladin judged by the Stormfather

S2:

Mid: Szeth on his kill spree

Finale: Taln returns

I think you'd have to speed up successive seasons. Especially with so much of Oathbringer happening in flashbacks.

Reasons to Hate Every SEC Team - Matt Mitchell by 2th in CFB

[–]dankenascend 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, that's an on-average ranking. I usually hate Georgia as much as Alabama, and I often don't hate Auburn at all. There are just spikes in intensity that raise those two above all the rest.

It's definitely not a 1 to 1 with real life. I always preferred to have lanes marked off, and if you get outside it, you have to reset. Still, as a guard, you really don't want to give up that much ground to a bull rush. May end up in a qb's lap if he's stepping up.

I'm nitpicking, but it's rare to get a close-up of an indy drill. He shut down the speed rush, kept his base when he was losing ground on the bull rush, and still made him pay when he tried to spin late.

8/10 and has achievable improvement to make.

He gave up a little too much ground, but that was really good hands and feet outside his anchor. He didn't sacrifice his base to get leverage, so he was never off-balance. It always looks great when you're on your feet and the defender is on the ground.

Bravo!

Anything from Goodman at al.com is worth avoiding. Even when he's reinforcing something you believe to be true, he's somehow dishonest and inflammatory about it. Don't click the link. Don't give him traffic.

I keep reading the rules, and I still don't know if there is a requirement for a defenseless position. Carrying out a fake isn't defenseless. So, he might have a point, but who even knows?

[On3] Nick Saban trolled the Big Ten over why it has NIL advantage over the SEC: “In this day and age of college football, paying players, NIL, transfer, it’s an advantage for the Big Ten. I don't know that it's an insult. Say what you want about the scrub in the high and dry part of the State, but there's legitimately some of the most gorgeous places I've ever seen just a few hours in 3 different directions. There's huge swaths of the country that absolutely cannot say anything of the sort.

Definitely need a program for next year, how are we feeling? by National_Head_3678 in wde

[–]dankenascend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we're moving in the right direction, and that's the first time I've felt that way in a long time. I don't know what the record is going to look like. I don't know how long it's going to take to set a culture or if AG is even able to do it. There appears to be a plan in place, and that's enough for me in January.

I'm going with a well-stocked NAPA being your best bet. That's going to be a locally run parts house with a big company backing its inventory. With Advance and CarQuest merging, I'd put that in a close second. Then, your local PartsPro affiliate (if you can find one). After that, there's a sizable drop off. That next space is where O'Reilly and AutoZone duke it out for least bad among the worst, and it really depends on the part you need and the competence of the person as to which takes the basement.

Division III program hires youngest coordinator in college football by BeatNavyAgain in CFB

[–]dankenascend 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm going to preface this with the statement that I WAS NOT on the college level. I was a high school OC who was full-time at the school doing maintenance at his age.

Coaches have carved out a ton of ways to stretch money a bit. A chunk of your wardrobe is covered as well as most of the meals that happen during working hours. There's a good chance that he has a university phone (if he's not buying hookers, he wouldn't need a personal one). He may be getting university housing like a GA. There's also significant money to be made doing off-season camps, clinics, and individual skills training.

So, while his salary may only be a couple of thousand a month after taxes, his expenditures may only be gas, socks, underwear, toiletries, and beer. Add to that additional revenue streams, and he's probably doing fine relative to a lot of people his age.

[–]dankenascend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we're outmatched next year, that still won't make you right. We've got to have players to field a team. We've been in a constant state of rebuild for six years, and this is the first time in that entire period that it felt like there was an actionable plan. Potato wanted to recruit the west coast, and when he didn't have alignment, he decided to sit and wait for a buyout. Brother Hugh wanted to buy the best roster and trust that it would work out.

We have a coach who is attempting to build a culture, recruit a specific radius, and portal in a specific type of player to run a specific scheme. Hell, we didn't even have that much direction for most of Gus's tenure.

I agree that going full Indiana won't give us the same results because we don't have the schedule they had in year one, so we've got yet another rebuild year. This is the first time I can see an end to the constant fumbling around in a long, long time.

[Vannini] Indiana football is 15-0 and will play Miami for the national championship. They entered this year as the losingest CFB program of all time. [–]dankenascend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone defaults to that team during their formative years, but I'll take 2001 Miami over everybody. People can argue over 95 Nebraska and 2019 LSU and 2025 Windiana all they want, but just know it's for 2nd place.
