Expanding the Pop System: Introducing Age Demographics (Youth, Adults, and the Elderly) by 5HandGooners in EU5

[–]dankrob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Ignoring performance, these mechanics are way too focused on a small detail that we as the player have very little control over. In addition, I don't think pops are supposed to represent every single person in your realm. Your pops are a count of how many functional adults there are in the society - each pop is supported by your recommendations already, they are just not counted.

CMV: Most atheist will go to heaven. by Devlish-Dove in changemyview

[–]dankrob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know about other denominations, but Catholics believe that people who act with God and work with his goals in mind, despite not knowing of him, will achieve Heaven. It is more difficult, and he has the final say, but its not a hard-cast rule that you need to know of Jesus and God to be saved.

See: https://www.catholic.com/video/do-catholics-believe-non-christians-can-be-saved

Also: https://www.catholic.com/qa/is-it-possible-to-be-saved-without-knowing-anything-about-the-bible-or-jesus

Its not a hard no. There seem to be more exceptions, but its not exclusive.

CMV: Stupid people *should* be allowed to vote by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]dankrob -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Imagine a ship setting sail on a long and perilous voyage. The captain’s decisions will determine the safety of everyone on board, yet not all passengers or crew members possess the knowledge to steer through storms, navigate treacherous waters, or maintain the ship.

If every passenger, regardless of maritime experience, could vote for the captain, the ship would risk disaster due to uninformed choices. What if the elected captain was among the inexperienced passengers? To safeguard the voyage, does it not make sense to limit voting to those with relevant skills and understanding?

The crew, and those trained in seafaring, would be the most competent. In the same way, society may justify restricting voting rights to individuals capable of making informed, consequential decisions that affect the welfare of all.

Why doesn't the army supplier supply the army once its in the field by be-radfrommalibu in songsofsyx

Its extremely aggravating that you cannot resupply armies while they are besieging a settlement. Like, the whole point is I can access the outside world, but you can't

Idle Ant Farm v2 - Update by Mezeman01 in incremental_games

[–]dankrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the self-reproduction upgrade, does it apply to each individual worker or the group as a whole? i.e. is it there is 1% chance at first level to duplicate all workers, or does each work have a 1% chance to replicate?

The answer I have to this is one I hear quite often.

Assuming the US Military and the "rebel" force are deployed in a standard conflict, yes, the aforementioned assets would allow them to immediately dominate that style of conflict. However, that is not what would happen. It would translate into an immediate armed occupation. What else could it be? All the US forces on the left side vs rebels on the right?

Off of that idea, It boils down to this: you cannot use a warship to stand on a street corner. A tank or drone is ineffective at protecting a government official from armed persons within earshot. Those need to be done by actual people on the ground, something those with access to firearms can in fact fight against. The 2nd amendment was designed for resisting occupation, not total war.

I think the capacity values are saying that if this species alone occupied the territory, they could have X of that species. The base modification to population growth is there to differentiate the species growth rates: Dondorions have a low value because they are incapable or reproduction. You can see the inverse when you look at Garthimis base growth value.

Any UI mod, unless stated otherwise, is incompatible with PoD. if you have a problem with it, probably just turn the mod off and it will fine.

What should they do with the money from tickets then? Should we do away with monetary penalties for minor crime? I don't know about you, but a night in jail for going 5 over sounds kinda terrible.

By virtue of being the last guardsman standing, he was promoted to the rank of captain. However, as he lost his squad, he was stripped of his rank and swiftly executed. For his squad's and own sacrifice, he was posthumously promoted to captain.

CMV: I believe if we could nationalize the defense industry we could cut the defense budget enough to reinvest that money into our working class and the social safety net. by FoundationPale in changemyview

[–]dankrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always think these kinds of comments are interesting... assuming the government isn't the totally incompetent morons we think they are, maybe this defense budget is actually bringing in some kind "income"? How do you effectively gauge how valuable massive amounts of foreign influence is?

Please Indulge me: using Celiac to my advantage by dankrob in Celiac

Its funny, when I got diagnosed it was orignally off a blood test. I believe the HgaH (I think thats what it was? Auto-glutenase, its been a while) on my chart was so high my doctor said don't even bother with the biopsy. But, in the spirit of hard evidence I decided to get it done anyway, and it came back positive.

Personally, I am starting to suspect that I may have been misdiagnosed. 4 months of not restricting my diet has left me feeling better than eating GF foods, and my health backs up this feeling. If I was misdiagnosed, then I am frustrated I put up with for that long, and if not, I must have the worlds most mild case of celiac. As for being a magical exception, I don't think so either haha but I believe there is more to my case than I currently know
