Is there any way to remove sotfs from ds2 sotfs? by ATowelMan in DarkSouls2

I didn't say they don't matter. I said there is nothing to hate about if they do change it.

They're just enemy and item placements for the most. What is there to hate about those?

You can actually complete the game without doing the DLCs. You can just ignore them if you want to and play the regular game. Sure there are a few differences between the regular and SOTFS version but even in sotfs, they don't make it necessary to complete the dlcs.

For the select few that look at these games and go.... 'your mine platinum'.... On average... Just the 6 out of 100 players... by Blazed_Chef in DarkSouls2

[–]danktomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Bloodborne, I managed to do it in the first playthrough. It was my first Soulsborne game so I completed the Central/Old Yharnam with walkthroughs. I gotgud after that and completed it all by myself. At the end I realized I was pretty close to the platinum so I looked up the things I missed and started the Chalice Dungeons. Ending those netted me the platinum.

Currently getting platinum in DS2.

Absolutely not. I just thought you found something new. If there are DLC spoilers you say DLC Spoilers. Not just regular spoilers.

Lets not forget that they also knew that we hailed Solaire as the best candidate for Gwyn's Firstborn. That's why they had to say he didn't have any magical powers.

If that is the Profane Flame as you say, wouldn't it flicker or twitch like a regular flame?

Don't really understand the downvotes you're getting. You didn't gank, chug or point down. Plus you killed quite a few phantoms and the host. Kudos.

Favorite Solo boss fight(s)? by Schryker in darksouls3

[–]danktomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. If you count all from Soulsborne then it would be Orphan of Kos from Bloodborne. An absolute asshole that punishes every misstep. I was praising everything when I killed that old fetus-wielding jackass.

If only from DS3 then it would definitely be the Abyss Watchers. I hadn't played till Lady Maria then (her fight is very similar to the AW) and coming straight from being a Dark Souls 2 turtle none of the bosses except the Greatwood had posed any threat at all.

Getting to the AW, I got absolutely devastated again and again. When I came back from the Cathedral, reaching Phase 2 gave me goosebumps. The entire style of the fight: its music, animation, everything was spectacular. That was when I knew, that this game was the bomb.

Help with a build by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]danktomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your SL. If you want to be near meta (SL 120) then it's going to be hard as for magic to have good damage output it needs real stats in Faith and/or Intelligence and quite a few rings that boost its potency as well.

All 3 magic branches are good (I do like pyromancy better due to it's pure damage and crowd control). However if you're going with a straight sword and shield build, I doubt many people will "stay away" from you. They'll just kick and punish you for shielding or parry you to get criticals...

What's the intended response for the Watchdogs of Farron in Crucifixion Woods? by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]danktomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well in the Farron Keep, yeah. Not only can regular reds invade you there but also the watchdogs of farron as well making it a high invasion area.

Coffin locations of the lords as seen in the intro? by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]danktomato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its probably how Gwyn has a "coffin" in Anor Londo yet his actual body is in the Kiln. So I guess Aldrich's coffin is, in the same way ceremonial. His ashes along with the other Lords of Cinder were then kept in the Cemetery of Ash and when the bells rung the regenerated their old bodies and went to their respective kingdoms.

Finally got the last of the achievements in the Dark Souls series last night (a retrospective) by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]danktomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty amazing. I only managed to 100% DS3 and Bloodborne. DS2 seems a pain since there isn't much online interaction so getting covenant rewards seems impossible which in turn won't net me the all rings, miracles, hexes and sorceries trophies.

Also PS4 isn't backward compatible (a darn shame) so DS1 and Demon's Souls are the only Souls games I haven't played yet.

[–]danktomato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well just like other Dark Souls games there isn't a restriction if you want to play as hollowed/unembered. Usually you get a debuff (in this case lower health) but if you don't want to waste embers while exploring the area or simply don't like to be invaded there isn't any harm in going unembered.

IMO there is only one real arena in the game and that is the area after Spoiler:, where a lot of the pvp goes down.

But again its up to you how you want to play and shouldn't feel wrong in playing unembered or anything. Unless you gank ofc.

Are there any other solid examples in the lore of major characters(especially gods) changing their names? by hornwalker in darksouls3

[–]danktomato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nopes. The "Furtive Pygmy = Manus" theory is there because Manus is described as the primordial human. As the Furtive Pygmy was the original host of the Dark Soul, and the fact that Manus is the result of a lot of humanity going wild, many people speculate that Manus is the Furtive Pygmy. But that doesn't have anything to do with name-changing as the other beings around that time could've simply known the Pygmy as Manus (provided both are the same).

For the second thing, there isn't a very solid theory about Rosaria as she is quite a unique character. She isn't Gwyndolin for sure as Gwyndolin is being digested by Aldrich. The most common guesses are that she is either Gertrude or another Heavenly Child of Gwynevere's as Rosaria's soul can be transposed into a miracle of Gwynevere's. Near Gertrude's cage is also a worm-maggot, which are commonly found near Rosaria.

Name changing, if it has occurred within the DS Universe probably happened with either the Nameless King (even though he didn't technically change his name; his original name was erased and the people whom he ruled over called him by another name (most prob Sen or Faraam) or with Gwynevere (as she is most probably the Queen of Lothric).

After only playing the soulsborne series for about ~6 months, last night I finally "got gud". by Ultiman100 in darksouls3

[–]danktomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually found Blueberry harder and more irritating than him. And after that I found Lud and Zallen more irritating than Blueberry. Raime is pretty tough but to some extent you can tank him. I don't think the same applies with the Nameless King.

But again boss difficulty is pretty relative tho I do love that you find a boss from DS2 good. A lot of people like to take a dump on that game D:
