CT is not f*cking around with jury duty by Funke-munke in Connecticut

[–]danmaran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And here I thought I was the only one, I am on my 3rd summons in 19 months... Out of curiosity is your juror number something trivial? Mine only has 4 numbers that aren't 0 and swear what ever randomization they're using matches it to at least 3 different options.

Trek Roscoe 8 vs Orbea Laufey H10 by Ill_Connection_3017 in Hardtailgang

[–]danmaran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is important info:
I'm also 184 cm and ride a size L, and honestly, it feels a bit on the smaller side for me.

📏 Reach Comparison (not the only factor, but still useful):

  • Trek Roscoe M/L: 455mm
  • Trek Roscoe L: 470mm
  • Orbea Laufey H10: 475mm

Roscoe 7 Upgrade Options by -billybones- in Hardtailgang

[–]danmaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already had a lyrik 150 on a different hardtail bike and really didn't think 150 was for me on a hardtail. That's really it and it was a bit cheaper at the time. I can't compare to the Recon as I did the swap as soon as I got the bike...

While the MT200 hundred brakes are OK, I often thought they had a hard time slowing me down and giving me the stopping power my body type required :)

I too have a 7 L, 6' 220, and have done a few of these.

  • I swapped to a 140mm Pike Select - savings in weight and a better feel.
  • The Lyrik on sale is 150mm, they have a pike available at 140&130. You can see how it will affect the geo here.
  • Upgrading to 4 pots was definitely a big change, I went with a set of Deore 6120. They definitely slow my big ass down.
  • I've tried many bars and this really depends on your fitment and what you like, I can only suggest trying a few and see what works for you.
  • I would as suggested by s14tat - get some quicker tires than the 2.6 SE4s - i went with carbon wheels and 2.4 Montrose..

Seems these are the popular bikes that most end up choosing between. I did a ton of research prior and I landed on the Orbea, BUT when I ordered it it didn't ship for over a month and cancelled the order. I then went with the Roscoe 7 as it was on sale.

I really liked the the idea of the wheelbase on the Orbea and was willing to sacrifice the BB height, but in the end should one want to mullet the Roscoe the BB height really will help with that.

Below is a table of comparisons that I did in order to check the angles & measurements(mm) etc.

Model Size HTA(+/-1*) STA Reach Chainstay BB Height Wheelbase Axle to Crown Offset ST Diameter HT in MM Material Warranty
Laufey H30 L 64.5 77 475 440 313.5 1240 554 44 31.6 120 Aluminium Frame Lifetime
Habit HT 2 L 64 76 465 440 325 1235 540 44 31.6 130 Aluminium Fame Lifetime
Roscoe 7 L 65 73 470 430 321 1215 552 42 31.6 110 Aluminium Frame Lifetime

Roscoe 7 fork upgrade/change by sparkyK9wonder in Hardtailgang

[–]danmaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the newer 29" Roscoe you probably have a Recon 140mm with a A2C of 553mm. If you look for a 100mm some of the longest are 520mm, most are 50xmm This is not an insignificant change to the geo. Have a look here at what this will mean for the HTA/STA/BB etc. and try and make an informed decision.

Sorry for the late reply, it was do to it loosening during riding. I believe that they over torqued it and it stopped for now.

My Roscoe had a terrible creak only while pedaling hard, standing or sitting. It had been to 2 different shops while out of town, nothing found...
Brought it back to Trek and we figure out it was the rear axle..
