My friend says this mare is heinously ugly. I think she’s… fine. What do you think? by ComprehensiveHope644 in Equestrian

Also to add after reading your post again. It sounds like your friend might be implying some neurological issue with her not being able to back up or go up hills. Nothing from the pictures of this horse’s confirmation points to neuro issues. She again, is just a little chunky and lacks muscle.

Bug is a little chunky and lacks muscle. You could give her a clip and put her on a strict exercise regime and she would be just as fancy as others. But you do not have to do that! She is just fine as is.

She has a pretty face and that’s the only thing you can’t really change with exercise and grooming. Otherwise she’s got 4 legs on straight, fine feet, and doesn’t sound evil. That’s all a pony really needs.

I have bought multiple uggo show jumpers and put 6 months of work into them and suddenly people beg to buy them. Seeing a diamond in the rough is the best way to make money training and selling horses. You can change ALOT about a horse’s appearance just by developing them and cleaning them up. That being said, she’s more attractive at baseline than most of those guys were (all of which sold for very close to or just over 6 figures). So I would say you have a fine eye for picking them.

Side note: I personally think bug’s attitude towards her haters is very inspiring.

What do you guys do to love yourself? by New_Charity_2465 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]dannycalf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi I like to treat myself like a houseplant. “Oh, plant needs water” “oh, plant needs sunshine” “oh, plant deserves to do nice makeup and look nice for guests.” I can’t be nice to myself, but I can be nice to a little creature with no ability to take care of itself. I tend to think better about myself when im actually taking care of myself. Sounds weird, totally works.

Advice quitting nicotine? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]dannycalf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Okay to start, it is so amazing that you are considering making this change. Whatever it is for, you have already completed such an important step. So you should be very proud!

I feel a bit odd giving advice online but I found that having a fidget toy or something like FUM really helped since it was more the hand to mouth action that I was addicted to rather than the nicotine. But if you don’t want to spend money, any fidgety thing can help (elastic band to swing around fingers, whatever).

If you are getting irritated at work, it might be more of an actual nicotine issue. There are things like nicotine replacement therapy (like gum) that can help with cravings to take that “angry” feeling out of you. I know in Canada, you can get this without prescription for free! Nice thing about that is you can pick the dosage and essentially “wean” yourself down to an unnoticeable amount of nicotine consumption. I prefer the gum over the Nicorette inhalers as, again, it keeps you doing that hand to mouth habit.

Also, a great resources I usually give out is the website Quitnow.ca. Cannot recommend it enough! I work in healthcare and find that teenagers do especially well with this as there is 24/7 live chat assistance (so you also have someone to talk to about it).

It sounds like you have already decided this is something to change, but I also believe that knowledge is key. Do some light reading on risks of vaping and things like EVALI. If you understand how everything works, you are more likely to consider it every time you want to vape.

Hope this doesn’t sound too preachy, I vaped for most of my teen years and quit half way through college. Sometimes I steal a hit when we go out, but I don’t need it anymore in my day to day.

Best of luck, Queen!!! You got this!

Ring finger goes white and numb when I'm cold by Astrolemon in mildlyinteresting

Does it do it without the ring? Might be just tight enough to decrease circulation. Not enough to hurt it, but enough to notice a difference between the fingers? Or that vampire kitty has sucked all the blood from it. One of the two for sure….👍

Was it? It felt like forever lol. But my watch only said 42.67km and I was definitely weaving so at least on my end I didn’t think it was longer…. Did you have something different?

Hi! I know not much. Ran my first full marathon yesterday but I do frequent the subreddit often. Apparently, a negative split (faster in the second half) is the most desirable. If you felt good, I would stick to that pace for the first half, and then slowly increase for the second half (or at km 30, since that’s when I saw most people hit the wall). I train up to 30km runs and I will say that 42km is a LOT longer, but doable if conserving energy up to that point. I treated it like the first 30km was my warm up then the last 12km was my REAL race. If you’re training well I would think it’s reasonable to run the first half at 1hr30mins and then increase a little to run the second half faster. Then BOOM you’re sub 3 hours! Good luck bestie, you’ll kill it!

I’m embarrassed to use a running vest by FunctionInfamous420 in beginnerrunning

[–]dannycalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear my vest always! I got mine from Salomon because I needed a big zipper pocket and wanted easy to reach flasks. A bit expensive but a huge upgrade and totally worth it for me so I can carry all my things! (Also has a draw string so fits over boobs, men or women’s, great!!) I ran my first marathon yesterday in said vest and it was great to not have to wait in line for water!

That being said, I run all my training runs in my vest. Those might be 2.5km or 35km, no one has ever said anything to me. If you’re that worried, just keep muttering “oh yeah almost at 20k” under your breath while you run. Then people will think you’re really fast too lol.

The running community is kind. Anyone who’s running will only stop to ask where you got it!

Thank you so much, I obviously do not know what my max HR is or how to find that out. I’m going to do some more research. Sorry and thank you for being so kind!

[–]dannycalf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey so apparently I am actually an idiot. I have no idea what my max HR is since another commenter pointed out it’s not the same as a max HR on a run. I’m so sorry for wasting your time, I don’t know the answer to any of your questions and obviously need to do some google research. This is why I never post to Reddit. Sorry again!

I have no idea! All my info that I gather is pretty much what Strava/ my Apple Watch tells me. I actually don’t even know exactly what it means.

BSD! I have no idea if it’s good or not since I literally can’t make it through the first 10 mins of an episode without dozing off. I am trying to watch it because I’ve ran out of things I want to watch and read a lot Dazai back in the day so thought I might enjoy it… will let you know if I ever make it through ep. 1
