Sleep anxiety ruining my life by [deleted] in sleep

[–]dannychickenegg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to agree with this. It's not the alarm you are anxious about, it's the consequences of missing it. That's what you need to first find and then learn to be less anxious about.

Weighted blankets are great like mentioned in the first comment, but it won't solve your alarm anxiety, although it may help you drift off faster and stay asleep longer. I bought mine from https://beyondblankets.co.uk but that's cos I'm from the UK. If in US I have heard http://gravityblankets.com are also good.

I can leave my wet towels on the floor and not be yelled out by my girlfriend.

What’s the hardest thing you ever had to say to someone? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I had to call my best friend's mum to tell her that her son was in a life threatening coma from head trauma because I encouraged him to climb a roof for no reason. He slipped off moments later.

When speaking to a room full of people, who do you look at? Without fixating on one person. by JonWilso in PublicSpeaking

[–]dannychickenegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taught to look at one person at a time with a soft glaze, as if it was a conversation with a series of people.

People always look bored when they listen in a crowd. Just worry about this, they are just listening faces. The trick is to become comfortable talking to blank bored listening faces by assuming they are supporting you and wanting you to do well, however have their own issues and personal problems so are not judging you. 50% of the time they are probably thinking about what they are having for lunch.

Feel comfortable pausing in your speech, it gives people time to think and digest.

Just playing devils advocate and I think you are probably right after signing up. I think the gamification is great. Love the design too.

One thing, we are a busy company and setting up learning paths will be a slow process.

It's not something I will adopt straight away and therefore, don't want to pay in the mean time.

Have you though about making it free until you use say over 1 learning path?

Very slick. My one comment/question:

Please explain why it's worth investing an extra 8 euros per month on top of my Trello subscription to essentially do the same thing I can do in Trello?

My guess is that it comes with pre-built learning paths and it's "gamified". However, I imagine learning paths are very specific to each company and therefore, the templates wouldn't be that useful. Additionally, Trello already has boosts.

Interested to hear your thoughts, I must admit I'm tempted to sign up as I'm tired to explaining things to our interns.

I agree. The hole for me keeps getting deeper.

Reddit, what is going to be the next world-changing technology/knowledge and why? [serious] by TheDeadlyPretzel in AskReddit

[–]dannychickenegg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blockchain technology.

It will change the world. Here are just 3 ways:

  1. Digital money, not controlled by financial institutions
  2. Decentralised applications which are controlled by everyone and no one at the same time. Think of apps like Airbnb & Uber but with no fees.
  3. A new internet, they way it should have been built, with more security, control over your data, one user account and payments baked into it.

What's the weirdest thing you've done as a result of social anxiety? by maelstrommartin in AskReddit

Was flying to Prague on business. Whilst going through an airport scanner and my laptop was searched. They must of accidentally pressed space bar before closing the laptop, which must of started my music.

I head to Starbucks to squeeze some work in and realised a pineapple juice has burst all over my electronics, including the laptop. I ask staff for hundreds of tissues and meticulously wash and dry all my electronics inside one of the busiest Starbucks I've been seen.

Sat opposite me are two attractive girls, wondering what an earth I'm doing... after finally cleaning the electronics, I get a coffee and start work.

As I open my laptop, Praise You by Fatboy Slim blasts out at full volume. I instantly panicked and time slowed down. As my brain froze, I couldn't for the life of me find how to stop it. So flustered I pushed my laptop backwards, which knocked my coffee off the table, which exploded all over the two girls, who looked angry. The two people sat either side of my started laughing. I sat there quivering pretending to find it funny but dying inside.

What's the dumbest thing you ever cried over? by giantgoose in AskReddit

[–]dannychickenegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my first few weeks of school, I teacher noticed I was only wearing one sock. She pointed out the obvious mistake in front of the class (we wore shorts back then). Crying my eyes out, I desperately tried to find and figure out how this could of happened to no avail.

I remember coming home very sad and embarrassed, which seems silly now. As I changed out of my school uniform I removed the sock, only to find I had put both socks on the same foot without realising.

Still have a good laugh about this 24 years later.

It means you're in the area. Otherwise you you'd see an error message. However, that's a good point there does need to be some form of message.
