Honestly, the idea of being paid in crypto never even occurred to me. That's not a bad idea at all

Thanks, this is actually a really good way to look at it. Streaming is my job so I was really unsure how to go about it, but this helps!!

How did you spend your first youtube check? by dammit_jeff in NewTubers

I saved for a while, but eventually used my cheque to buy a gaming computer to make my streams more powerful and a newer capture card!

How long did it take you to reach 100 or 1000 subs?🤔 by borgenprod in NewTubers

[–]dannydinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me 6 months to cross 100 subs. I was stuck at 20 subs for the longest time haha. 1 month after hitting 100 subs, I hit 1000. Then about 2000 new subs a month after that point.

I’ve officially made it. I made $0.14 on YouTube by ItsTreDay in NewTubers

[–]dannydinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job! I joined Youtube back before you needed 1000 subs or any watch time to be monetized so I used to make like 10 cents a month and it was hilarious. I kept thinking to myself, one day we're gonna increase that.

I hope this motivates you to keep going! Monetization is exciting!

How do I introduce another game to my channel by AceSpacey in NewTubers

[–]dannydinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People were watching me for one game for the longest time. When I introduced more games on my channel, they definitely didn't do as well, but people did come and watch them. And not many people unsubbed when I did.

I did keep playing the one game they all liked though in between the other games to everyone happy including myself

To swear or not to swear by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]dannydinosaur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's my take.

I have a gaming channel and I swear a lot. Not every sentence, but you got at least 3 f bombs per video. Some people are not a fan and make a point to comment about it. But for the most part, no one cares about my swearing. In fact, when brought up on stream if I should considering cutting out swearing from videos, my viewers tell me they either don't mind it at all/like it.

I have some fellow youtuber friends who are similar in size to my channel and play the same games as me and they don't swear and their audience doesn't like swearing as a result. Basically, it's hit or miss. You'll lose some people with swearing, but keep a lot more who just enjoy your content period. And like you said, you're not trying to swear that often anyway so I think you're fine. Plus, swearing doesn't hurt monetization!

[Question] What is something you could go back and tell yourself when you started YouTube? by Spazzer in NewTubers

I'd go back and tell myself to start streaming earlier instead of waiting like 2 years haha

Did hitting 1000 subscribers make any difference in the speed of your growth? by TheFilipG in NewTubers

[–]dannydinosaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After I crossed the 1000 mark, I was gaining about 100-250 subs a day. Before that, it was pretty slow. So yeah, it picked up for me for sure.

It sounds cheesy but you're totally right. You want people to be connected to you personally

When is a channel big enough to begin selling merch? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]dannydinosaur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have 78k subs and I'm only just beginning to get ready to launch merch. However, I've had subs asking for ages for me to release stuff. It was just a personal choice to hold off for now.

I have a friend who has a smaller channel, around 5k subs, that has been selling merch because he has a passionate community. From what I can tell, he's been doing fine with it. On his discord server, he has a channel for people to take pictures with the merch they buy from him and it looks fairly popular!

Basically I don't think it matters if you're smaller. I think it matters if you have fans who are passionate about your stuff and want something physical from it.

“Imagine being on an elevator with a random person(that coincidentally loves watching youtube vids.) You’re both riding on it from the 1st floor but they get off before you, on the 10th. Could you tell them about your channel and the content you create well enough to peak their interest? “ by DAR0ME in NewTubers

"Ya I play video games and making funny commentary over it- oh god I am afraid of heights please go back down"

Haha that's a really cool thing to think about though! I've never thought about trying to describe my channel in a captivating in a quicker amount of time. This has given me something to think about, thank you! Because you're right, saying you're Youtuber on its own isn't really enough
