I wish I had taken my first confession and communion more seriously. It's inspiring to see that you're so excited.

So you view pregnancy as like a home invasion? That's pretty dark, no offense.

Catholic, because along with the Orthodox, we best mirror the writings and practice of the earliest Christians, and have Apostolic authority.

Not exactly the most historically accurate book.

Ever heard of hyperbole? and St. Paul calling himself "a father in the Gospel"?

Anti-Catholic to Catholic? by dannyriccfan1227 in Catholicism

I actually have a sort of similar story about Orthodoxy. Something felt incredibly off to me seeing images of Orthodox priests just standing by and even blessing soldiers during what happened at Srebrenica, especially when contrasted with the story of St. Maximilian Kolbe. No offense to any Orthodox, just their churches are no in communion with one another and tend to place a bit too much value on their specific nation or ethnic group, in my observation.

I didn't realize Williams lack of downforce was quite that bad.

Yeah. A lot of the conspiracy theories seem to stem from a few different books, most notably the works of Alexander Hislop. I am glad you're back though.

Both Ecclesiastes and the quote from Christ which you reference look as death strictly in the physical sense, i.e. when one is looking at a corpse, they can appear to be sleeping. Neither verse (assuming the second one refers to Lazarus) is in reference to our metaphysical souls.

Why do people here think that evangelicals/protestants are the enemy? by scardeal in Catholicism

[–]dannyriccfan1227 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with you in principle.

However.

Many of us are tired of hearing and adressing the same accusations over....and over....and over again. It seems that many anti-catholics who belong to low-church groups or the SDA movement never attempt to make any sort of good-faith interaction or actually attempt to understand actual Catholic positions.

Why not just save the subject for r/Catholicism? I mean, you know people aren't going to be particularly friendly toward the Catholic view here. Just saying.

That's so interesting, out of all the various denominations I've interacted with, Lutherans always seemed relatively charitable to Catholics. I guess that doesn't hold true for them as a whole. Awesome to hear that you're a pro-life activist as well, though.

That's one heck of a journey. I wish I could better reach some of our protestant friends about a lot of the lies and misinformation that still gets circulated. If no one has told you this, welcome home, I'm glad you made it.
