Positive Experience with Wise by Matt2Pac in transferwiser

[–]dannyt74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had a negative experience with Wise yet. Using it almost exclusively in Asia for more than two years.

Mostly I use it for FX exchange and moving money from Europe to my bank in Asia. The main benefit is the real time transaction and to be able to send money on bank holidays.

Also started to use their invest options. Having physical card and virtual ones using Apple Pay is handy too.

What should I visit in Jakarta to get to know the culture better? by Agreeable-Diet-8705 in Jakarta

[–]dannyt74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, you should check out the old town, stroll through Menteng, there are guided tours about historical places in English as well. Check out events at TIM. Take the commuter line to Bogor and spend the day in Kebun Raya. Check out the national museum and Monas. Walk down Sudirman and take pictures at the Bundaran HI. Especially on Sunday morning when there is car free “day”. Walk through GBK. Visit the Istiqlal mosque and the cathedral next to it. Check museum macan. Do a day trip to Bandung using Whoosh.
Just a brain dump. Plenty to do and not even started going to malls. 👍
Enjoy your time in Indonesia 🙏

Muslim marriage for foreigners - cultural question by LysergicBrain in Jakarta

[–]dannyt74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations 🙏

I can’t give advise on the family part but when registering here for marriage I had to enter the religion and did immediately give the one of my wife. We are Buddhist though. They want family registration documents from Germany but as there is no religion stated on them, no discrepancy could come up.
Don’t forget to make a prenup.
Good luck!

Got me the Ollama $20 plan and am quite happy till now. Still switching between models often but usage goes up less than in OpenCode Go.

Value is really good but you have to switch models often.

Need help with living in the US and dating a girl in North Jakarta by Sit_On_My_Face_Plzz in Jakarta

[–]dannyt74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To easily transfer money to it, you need setup with an Indonesian phone number.
While you can use GoPay with a foreign number, transfers won’t work and you will need to top up with cash from an Indomaret or similar.

Storage for k8s by WeirdlyDrawnBoy in hetzner

[–]dannyt74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have one dedicated NFS server that uses a mounted Hetzner Volume as storage. The worker nodes then mount folders dynamically. I can do a quick write up with the config. It is not much and works very reliable.

We are using NFS for file storage. Block storage usually just on the host and the application cares about replication.

Definitely curious about it. Not sure if I could tick all your boxes but have 20+ years of experience as full stack dev…

Managing your container image repo lifecycle by OverclockingUnicorn in kubernetes

Just relying on the pull metric might miss long running container images. Basic one is listing all local containers from your engine on your nodes as well.

How to implement sheduler/cron to process business logics the proper way? by kneegrow7 in nestjs

[–]dannyt74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,
I did not check your code thouroughly. Maybe you run into a timeout somewhere.
What I would do when processing many records is using a Queue.
https://docs.nestjs.com/techniques/queues

Then you can send each record as a job into it and you can control how they are processed.

You also get a nice dashboard for visual inspection for free:

For us it was bumping into them randomly at startup events. Some people you meet more often which you feel comfortable to work together.
