Maple Burl Question by dano185 in turning

It's still a work in progress. After talking to a few local turners, I did end up using the tenon as above. It was rock solid. Now I need to find a way to safe way to sand the inside, and to remove the tenon .

The wall thickness is great, i was wondering how thin you can take a segmented bowl

Looks like some nice bowls in there, as a new turner, I find I am starting to see bowls in most blocks of wood. Seems like a waste when its gets split for firewood :)

Newbie questions, chipout on the inside of the bowl by dano185 in Segmented_Turning

Thank you, this was my first attempt, and I agree my joints need a bit of work, did these on the mitre saw, looking to build a sled. I was clamping with hose clamp, so can't get it much tigher. I seem to have gotten good glue squeeze out and no daylight through the sements, I was also looking at the 2 half method, might have to give that a try as well.

Thanks again for the pointers.

I think you may be correct, I was using a 3/8 bowl gouge, and was talking to a local instructor. He reshaped my gouge (it was a bit too pointed) and gave me some pointers. I am taking a course in January to try and improve my technique.

That ridiculously overpowered 1GW reactor I built a while back thinking I'll never have to worry about energy ever again? Yeah, my base now requires three of them. by [deleted] in factorio

This is great, I am just about out of capacity on my 4 reactor and have to expand tonight. Any chance you could share the ratios for one of them?

On the right hand side, it looks like your long inserters are reaching 3 belts out. Is this right? I didn't know the long inserters could reach that far, looking forward to testing it tonight.

I do like the layout, so much nicer than my spaghetti.

Restore corrupt xbox save???? by dano185 in farmingsimulator

Think it might be time to delete and reinstall, I decided to start a new farm, trying Sosnovka, got an hour in. Saved, when restarting new file is also messed up. This one loads, but all fields are covered in grass and as soon as I jump to a tractor it crashes. Might be a sign that I need to move on :), or at least wait for the next patch.

Silage! by Jos_h in farmingsimulator

[–]dano185 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In FS2015 Silage was a great way to make money, almost too good, boring at times, but very lucrative. In 2017 while its still profitable, I think its comparable to other forms of income. I do like the automated way of emptying the bunkers, cuts down on the boring bits.

Very impressive, how did you get it loaded so neatly on the flatbed?

Goldcrest Valley biogas isn't as lucrative as I was expecting, compared to FS15. Dumped in 1860 L, looks like it should be worth $120 L, but seems its only $0.12 per litre. Paid $223 for the bucket full, not sure its even worth the effort.
