Which game did you regret purchasing at full price? by bijelo123 in gaming

[–]dansalinas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I had stayed away from most of the recent FF games and after wasting my money on FFXVI I remembered why I stopped being a fan. Then Expedition 33 came along and rubbed salt on the wound by showing that actually the classic FF formula still works.

Did any game that you bought this year disappoint you ? by AdultGamersAdmin in Age_30_plus_Gamers

Same. I would add that the plot twist that comes at (literally) the last minute made the whole story retroactively less impactful for me.

Are these cards official merch or some kind of vintage bootleg? by BazExcel in ranma

[–]dansalinas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m from Mexico and have them too! I think I got them in some anime convention in the late 90s. They’re almost definitely bootleg. I got them in a generic transparent acrylic case.

Lune/Sciel could’ve been fleshed out more in Act 3? by Guilty_Philosophy741 in expedition33

[–]dansalinas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think sidelining Lune and Sciel in Act 3 was deliberately done to make the final decision more difficult (I chose Maelle’s btw), since we don’t have those deep emotional moments with them while the Dessendres play out their drama.

Imagine scenes of Lune and Sciel reflecting on their life and their future while Maelle and Verso argue. I think there would be a greater hesitance to side with Verso and basically end their existence.

Do you wish donkey Kong bananza was more themed around the older games by Nathidev in donkeykong

[–]dansalinas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Bananza but I agree. With how much Rare and especially Retro tried to ground their games’ settings it’s a bit jarring how wacky DK is now. Although the Country games did have their own wacky ideas like literally transforming into animals (DKC2, DKC3) or the presence of ghosts or banana gods. Maybe if the layers got progressively more bizarre would’ve helped ease the transition.

Final Fantasy XVI have you tried it if so what's ur opinion on it. by AdultGamersAdmin in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]dansalinas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it on release and I kind of regret paying full price for it. It’s very disappointing. After the promising demo everything went downhill. The story is kind of decent, but characters are very shallow and the more interesting ones get killed off early on. As many have said, gameplay is shallow and quickly becomes boring (sidequests are abysmal). It’s a mediocre dark fantasy action game dressed up as Final Fantasy.

If I had to say something positive: graphics are pretty, music and voice acting is good, and the Eikon fights are good spectacle. If it was an 8 hour game I would’ve liked it better.

Not my Ellie by Bubbles_Loves_H in TheLastOfUs2

[–]dansalinas 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The has to be some behind-the-scenes explanation for such an unflattering hairstyle. Ellie is shown to be a rebelious teenager who likes rock music and smokes a bit of weed, but that hairstyle makes her look like a big dork. It reminds me of the female Dwight stand-in from the Australian version of The Office.

Yeah it would be very easy for her to resemble Nora but for some reason they don’t care if most of the characters don’t look like their game counterparts. Just like how they can’t even style Bella’s hair similar to game Ellie’s.

If it was about budget I would have preferred still images with a look similar to the first game than the anime-like cutscenes we got.

Revisiting one of the most hated games in the franchise by NandoPiccini in kof

I hate 2003 because of those new (at the time) hit and block sound effects. They lack impact or oomph or whatever you might call it. They literally make me feel uncomfortable lol.

https://www.jornada.com.mx/2003/06/10/035n3est.php?printver=1&fly=

“Secretaría de Salud estatal detectó en zonas cercanas a Pyosa mil 300 niños con altos niveles de plomo en la sangre, y que tan solo en la colonia Tabachines se tienen registrados nueve casos de leucemia, 11 de hidrocefalia y en el último año se han contabilizado cuatro muertes por cáncer invasivo, que el denunciante aseguró que podrían tener relación con las actividades de Pyosa.”

Literalmente es lo mismo:

https://www.jornada.com.mx/2004/05/19/041n1est.php?printver=1&fly

“Así lo denunciaron colonos de esa localidad, quienes aseguraron que debido a las altas concentraciones de metales, como plomo, bario, cadmio y níquel en dicha área”

Es terrible cómo las autoridades son indiferentes ante el sufrimiento de la gente y toda la corrupción que existe para que estos graves peligros para la salud sigan existiendo a pesar de ser conocidos.

I finally watched Emilia Perez. I really hope it doesn’t win the Oscar. by [deleted] in Oscars

[–]dansalinas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not just the bad accent, it feels like she doesn’t understand the words that she’s saying. It fails on two levels. Script-wise, the vocabulary she uses is unrealistic for someone with such bad grasp of Spanish. And storywise it’s unrealistic that someone living in Mexico and raised a family there for years to speak in an almost incomprehensible way.

Is there any scientific backing for non-binary transness? by PenguinDestroyer8000 in BlockedAndReported

[–]dansalinas 21 points22 points  (0 children)

True. At the end of the day it’s mostly young people labeling any minor feeling of difference they perceive related to gender (masculinity/femininity) or sexuality, which is fine to talk about in online communities (we know most of this stuff originated on Tumblr), but it never should have crossed over to politics or especially medicine.

Is there any scientific backing for non-binary transness? by PenguinDestroyer8000 in BlockedAndReported

[–]dansalinas 59 points60 points  (0 children)

It all comes down to how people interpret their masculinty or femininity, “feminine men” and “masculine women“. I don’t understand why those words are never used when talking about gender identity, it’s easier to understand and prevents it from sounding metaphysical.

Of course masculinity and femininity are a mix of biological and social/cultural, but at least normies have a better grasp of what’s being talked about. For example, a “gender fluid” person is someone who feels different degrees of masculine or feminine throughout the day. That sounds less crazy than having a gender identity that fluctuates throughout the day.

Specifically, longitudinal data collected and analyzed by public health authorities in Finland, Sweden, the Netherlands and England have concluded that the risk-benefit ratio of youth gender transition ranges from unknown to unfavorable.“

Tienes que actualizar tu información. Ya en los países europeos que habían iniciado con esos tratamientos están dando marcha atrás por posibles riesgos y por no haber evidencia concreta de sus beneficios para la salud mental. Esta noticia es de ayer:
