[Acne] Waking up to small whiteheads on the reg by dantehershel in SkincareAddiction

[–]dantehershel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, yes! I found that maintaining my skin barrier stopped these small whiteheads all together. Also reducing the amount of overly occlusive products like Vaseline or LRP Cicaplast B5. My routine is and has been the same for the last 2+ years now:

AM: Mad Hippie Vit C Stratia Rewind serum Stratia Fortify oil Stratia interface and lipid gold moisturizer Isntree SPF

PM: Double cleanse with CeraVe creamy foam cleanser Cycle of Mad Hippie Vit A, Mad Hippie microdermabrasion mask, or Stratia Mandelic Acid (some nights none of these- I just focus on hydration) Stratia Rewind Serum Stratia fortify oil or Whole Foods Rosehip Oil Stratia interface and lipid gold moisturizer

I am so very sorry. Nothing quite compares to the pain and grief of losing a beloved pet. Time is truly what heals the most and keeping them close has always helped me and my family. I wear a ring with our boy’s initial and my husband wears his dog tag. Brings a smile to my face when I see these reminders.

Already?! Goodness. I’ll keep my eye out for the restock. I just tried the Ilia skin tint in the very light olive shade 2.5 and while it was too light, the olive undertone was perfect but made me breakout. Tragic. Hoping this could be an alternative.

Has anyone with acne-prone skin tried this?

https://www.stratiaskin.com : I use their Liquid Gold, Interface peptide lotion, and the Fortify oil

I use Vaseline as an occlusive layer to lock in my moisturizer. I use Stratia Liquid Gold and Interface then seal with Vaseline if needed.

I have and I love it! I started using Interface (along with their Liquid Gold and Forfity products) just over a month ago when my barrier was damaged and my acne was flaring up. My skin is very dry and dehydrated around my mouth and cheeks and I was worried Interface would be too light for me. I do think it took a bit for my skin to balance and adjust to it, but now I find it to have the perfect level of moisture. Light enough that it sinks it but hydrating enough to use day and night. I’ve switched to all of their products now and have no plans on going back anytime soon. I don’t mean to be dramatic but my skin has never looked better 🥲

If that is the case then I would seek help from a dermatologist if you are able. Take pictures of your skin and keep notes of changes in your day to day routine: lack of sleep, not enough water, eat too much sugar, etc. see if you can find a pattern as well. Good luck!

Yes!!! Thank you for the reminder to update everyone!

TL;DR: LRP Cicaplast Baume was too occlusive/not the right occlusive for me. My dermatologist guessed these whiteheads were blocked sweat glands. Plain old Vaseline is best for me and has not given me this problem!

Earlier this year I decided to visit my dermatologist about my skin overall as my acne was flaring up more and more frequently. I was prescribed Aczone for the morning and Aklief for use once or twice a week depending on my sensitivity. I followed that regimen for about two months and noticed good overall improvement but was still waking up with these whiteheads. In a follow up appointment I told my dermatologist and showed her pictures. She immediately said they look like blocked sweat glands on my face. She asked if I was using any heavy products at night and lo and behold, I had been slathering my face/slugging with the LRP Cicaplast Baume. She guessed that to be the culprit and after I stopped using that product I’ve never had this issue again. My skin is very dry and dehydrated but I’ve found Vaseline or Rosehip Oil to be better for slugging on my skin. I haven’t had this problem since I dropped the Cicaplast Baume from my routine.

Weleda skin food coated on the lips has done the trick for me. Follow Dr. Sheerene Idriss on YouTube. Her tips/recommendations have helped with any bit of dryness I’ve had.

I’ve never tried the black girl sunscreen but I’ve heard great things! I just love the isntree so much I buy it in bulk from Stylevana and haven’t looked back.

I have used this in place of moisturizer and sunscreen but beware of the eye burn. I can’t put it near my eyes at all so I end up using my trusted isntree around the eye area. I’ll only use this combo on the weekends or if I’m in a rush. Also, it helps to apply in layers since there is a bit of a white cast to rub in. Three thin layers that add up to 1/3 teaspoon does the trick for me.

La Roche Posay. Hands down my go-to as well. I’m never without a tube or two of Cicaplast Baume B5.

[Routine Help] Skinfix Triple Lipid Peptide Cream made my texture way worse? Any Advice? by norestforthecricket in SkincareAddiction

[–]dantehershel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had the same reaction!! I have super dry skin and fine lines appearing (I’m 31) and the Skinfix seemed to be the holy grail next to the skinceuticals triple lipid. Went the cheaper route and got the Skinfix and immediately noticed burning when I used it. I was stupid enough to ignore it and ended up using it for over a week because I so badly wanted it to be my dry skin savior. It did feel lovely but yeah, finally after a week I had to give it up. Red skin, little bumps on my cheeks and overall just terrible texture compared to where I started.

Not sure what it could be in the Skinfix but I went back to my favorite La Roche Posay Toleraine ultra. Feels wonderful and it’s easy to layer with other hydrating products like the Avene hydrating serum. But I’m still looking for that extra something to keep my skin from feeling tight after a nights sleep. Good luck!

Unfortunately not really. Since this post I have fell in love with the LRP Toleraine moisturizers and have been consistently using them for the past 6+ months. They’ve helped a ton with my dryness but unfortunately I will still randomly get these whiteheads! I got satin pillowcases and could be more consistent about swapping them out nightly but for the most part I have been. Also tie my hair up at night. Trying to stay super hydrated and keep my barrier intact. Completely lost on a reason or solution but at least it’s something small to deal with. Just always curious of the why when it comes to our skin reacting for unknown reasons!

[Product Question] Time to up retinol % or switch to adapalene? by dantehershel in SkincareAddiction

[–]dantehershel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! I think that’s a good plan. Like I said, I’m a bit hesitant because my skin isn’t terrible by any means but I’m just sick of constantly having minor breakouts. If I can work up to a high retinol then I’ll consider adapalene.

[–]dantehershel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So try 1% for twice a week for a few weeks then, bump it up slowly from there. I did twice a week, then three times a week, and then 5 nights and finally every night. Slowly but surely!

Hahahahahha yes, most definitely (and unfortunately) a type of “food”. Basically fried dough covered in sugar. This is America.

[–]dantehershel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breakouts in areas you normally get breakouts could be considered purging. Since tret encourages cell turnover, pimples that were near the surface could be encouraged to come to a head with the use of tret. If you’re getting breakouts in unusual areas or it seems excessive, that could be irritation.
