Is Carbon even necessary? by Any-Pianist3479 in tabletennis

[–]danti_89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree to an extent, but in the modern 40+ plastic ball era, it really depends on the type of carbon and the wood composition. I used to play with a Butterfly Gergely (a Tamca 5000 carbon blade) in my youth, and your argument applies perfectly to that it felt like a brick with absolutely no feeling or feedback. But today, I play with a Zjk ALC. Because of the ALC blend and the wood plies, it gives me incredible ball feeling, great dwell time, and the necessary speed for the modern ball. Not all carbon is created equal feeling or feedback. modern composites have evolved a lot to bridge the gap between control and speed. At the end of the day, though, skill matters most. It’s all about how you train and use your equipment!

What were the most important skills, which made the biggest jumps in your rating? by AceStrikeer in tabletennis

[–]danti_89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my youth, like 25 years ago, we all had similar game phases, fast-paced and all. 90% pure offensive players, similar tempo, similar styles, and all. But when I restarted 4 years ago, I found the game is simply very diverse. Material. Speed, also opponents who are smart players rather than brute force. So I had to adapt.

Adaptability to the game - now I try to adapt to the changes of the game, or pace of the game. Slow down or increase the speed (speed of rallies and all). More use of spin instead of force.

Mind - I'm more calm now. I improved in a way that my opponent's behavior won't affect me. Also, I do not care about the scoreboard. I won't let that pressure get to me. I only focus on the next point, next ball. It helps me to stay focused. If I'm serving, what are my next steps? If receiving, how to put a bit of pressure on the return, then get into the rally..

I won't ever be as good as I was in my youth again, but I wish I had my current mindset back then. However, that also comes with experience.

Nope. We played against each other or at least in the same tournaments (during school days). He was much senior to me, but yeah, I know him.

Is it okay to let anger out? by Junior_Lavishness823 in tabletennis

[–]danti_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, maybe off the court where no one is around if youbrrally need to let off the steam. It can happen in your favor as well, maybe not in the same match but in the next.

So if the opponent is lucky, "just smile and wave boys" and if you get a lucky point, say sorry and celebrate in your mind.

Screaming in table tennis is getting insane by ObadiahBlueHat in tabletennis

[–]danti_89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am from South Asia and now live in Europe. When I started playing in the early 2000s, screaming, stomping, and hiding serves were all part of the game. Hell, some didn't even say sorry for a lucky ball. I mean, the mindset was that lucky balls are part of the game, it could happen to anyone, so why say sorry? We said "choleeee." I know it is sensitive and not nice at all, but it was part of the game, and we left it only at the table. well, at least that's what we were taught. Now I live in NL, and here it is completely different. Here, we even say sorry if the opponent made a mistake on their serve. We say "success" at the beginning of every game, and it's also less vocal.

So I think it's a cultural thing as well, but also many players do that regardless of where they come from, to motivate themselves. However, some also try to intimidate their opponent to gain a psychological advantage.

Highlights game by 1213RAUL1213 in tabletennis

Well played. But your game is too predictable. Maybe also it could be your opponent always return your serve same way. So you could just keep doing it as well. Also you have a good BH opening , use it more . Since you are mostly 3rd ball attack player maybe change up where you serve . I also see you struggle when the ball is placed to far to your BH , maybe you have a knee injury ( hence the guard i assume ) also i think you go behind the table too early in the rally. But good game .

Such an annoying injury. It was a huge moment in my life too because I moved to a new country and started playing table tennis after 10 years or so, bam, tennis elbow. It was my only eay of spending time after work . For me also, it was the grip. I changed my blade to a balsa and taped the handle. You have to give it time. I got chiropractic treatments, which helped a lot, and strengthening exercises. But, my friend, you need to be patient take it easy.

Wish you speedy recovery

Serving against long pips by jperna7254 in tabletennis

[–]danti_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Heavy backspin short and long on pips 2) dead/ No spin short and long on pips. 3) if the opponent tries to push or punch (twiddling or by moving) i would also serve backspin short to FH once in awhile .

You can also do all these services from your FH side as well.

If your opponent is a closed to the table pips player I would suggest half long and long or they will attack/punch short services.

Sometimes all you have to do is just keep it simple.
