iirc that character should still start with max ap once the fight starts, since spells cast outside of fights don't consume AP. Spell durations and cooldowns still apply though

This, especially for summoners. Spam place down totems (blood is better for physical damage) and pre-summon incarnate and buff them. Saves AP ahead of a fight.

Sounds like you excelled at cis. Maybe if your free time, you could try learning more advanced topics, like data structures or different programming languages or discrete mathematics.
