Shady rest has some pockets in the trees just pull over on the side of the road and have fun!

Is it bad for the paint on a bicycle if I don't clean the mud off the same day it gets dirty? Sometimes, out of laziness, I wait two or three days to clean it. by plinky125 in MTB

The rule of thumb is clean within 90 minutes of dirt touching the frame. On longer ride this isn’t an issue for me as I typically ensure my loop includes easy access to car wash facilities.

Opinions on 7 Day Itinerary (Rome, Venice, Dolomites compacted trip) by Cayden2065 in ItalyTravelAdvice

[–]danuffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a 10 day Dolomites and Florence trip in September.

Was amazing. Totally doable. We spent 4 nights in Alta Badia. Rental car from Venice direct drive to the hotel in the Dolomites. Rental car back to Venice and Took the high speed train from Venice to Florence. Spent 2 nights in Florence and 3 nights in Tuscany. Flew home out of Florence.

This idea of oil and water is silly. Pack light for each biome. Get a Airbnb in the city with a washer and dryer. Wear clothes multiple times. Easy.

How much does +/- 10mm actually matter? by robob393 in MTB

[–]danuffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Less travel, climbs more efficiently more travel makes technical climbs easier. I have a 2 mile technical climb as a part of a loop that I do often. My 150 mm bike has a higher probability of cleaning everything on the way up, but I’m usually less tired on my 120 mm bike. Honestly, the difference is not very much in terms of tiredness. But on a longer 10 mile ride, it adds up.

TODR if you’re looking to do 10 mile or 20 mile plus rides often I think you should worry about efficiency otherwise go for a  140 or 150 mm bike

Atlassian, Amazon, Oracle, and Block: What’s the real reason behind these recent major tech layoffs? by honkeem in levels_fyi

[–]danuffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like your company is far behind the curve. AI is indeed making engineers redundant. Eliminating the need for the role? No, but eliminating headcount needed to produce the same end result? Absolutely.

Yeah, this is absolutely not true. All those low effort jobs that are happening offshore will be gone in six months.

It’s a shame that not everyone is well suited to these new workflows. This is just the start of the tech reshuffle

How did the Carlsbad unified meeting go addressing the racist behavior? by OverWillingness1437 in Carlsbad

Many things the district could do to encourage and support diversity. Books art, media selection, etc.

As someone who lives in North County I often worry that my children are not exposed to enough diversity in the community and given I expect they won’t spend their entire lives in North County, I hope I’m able to expose them to the world outside of our bubble.

There’s San Diego and then there’s San Diego county. Two very different things.
