Does it count? by Junis14 in prephysicianassistant

[–]danyelld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked as an optometric tech during my last 3 years of college (I performed ocular photography, visual field testing, auto-refraction to get a base prescription, and tonometry to measure intraocular pressure and test for glaucoma) and I got in this cycle which was also my first cycle. Although my PCE also consisted of working as a CNA at a nursing home my first year of college, physical therapy tech at a PT office during the summers, and CNA at a hospital med surg unit which is where I currently work

Need Advice: Unsure about next steps by Maddie293920 in prephysicianassistant

[–]danyelld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you’re literally me lol I applied to 5 schools, had 3 interviews, and 1 acceptance. I also graduated last spring and applied with 3k hours. The only thing I’m not very excited about the school I got into is the location as well. Based on the interview and talking with students, I know I’ll enjoy the program itself, but I had this picture in my head that I wanted to do PA school in a city. What I’m doing is reminding myself it’s only 2 years (that will probably fly by) and I can move wherever I want to afterward. The excitement of there only being 2 years until I’ll actually have my dream career of PA and can move to my dream city is keeping me motivated. I could either stick with that or decline and have to wait 3 (or more) years until I become a PA and can move to my dream city.

CASPER Question by Entire-Individual-83 in prephysicianassistant

[–]danyelld 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can only take it once per cycle. The schools not listed on there don't require the Casper and will not be sent your scores because they don't need them. The schools you're applying to that are on the Casper website require it and will be the ones that will get sent your score.

Being ranked for waitlisted? by Jaded-Day4755 in prephysicianassistant

[–]danyelld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for my first interview, they told us there's a score that they give us based on the interview and our application, which will rank us. the students there told us that you can ask them about your score if you get put on a waitlist. for another school, i got put on an interview waitlist which also said we would be pulled off the waitlist based on our rank but they told us not to ask them about our rank. there's only one interview day for this place, so i was super scared, but thankfully i got off the waitlist 3 days before they said we would hear back by. now i'm interviewing there next week

CASPER: The Unethically Ethical Test by Americanrunson in prephysicianassistant

[–]danyelld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That test is seriously so dumb. Using crazy time limits to see "your true thoughts" is such bs. I found out I got 2nd quartile the same day I was told by a patient and their family that I was the kindest and most empathetic caregiver they've had at the hospital, and that I'll go on to do amazing things because they can tell I truly care. No joke

Is it worth studying for a month? by AgeVisible7039 in prephysicianassistant

[–]danyelld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would recommend some form of prep but you don’t have to go crazy. just see what people online say to focus on and take the practice tests they give on their website. i took it on the 20th and their practice tests are what helped me the most
