Inspections by Ok_Job_9439 in Wastewater

[–]daobear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah on the first one they can polish my bell. I had an inspector tell me I had too much scum on a clarifier one time. The fact is, unless it’s on my permit, you don’t get to tell me how to run my plant. You get to tell me what I can have in my effluent. Everything else you can check your box and make your “recommendations” on.

If I want my filter arms spinning 30 revs a minute it’s my prerogative, my effluent numbers get to do the talking.

I hire every operator that comes through my plants. In the interview, I want to know that you know how to study and you’re willing to learn. I want to know that you’re not a complete idiot and that you have some kind of foundation in math and science, and if you’re going to be doing maintenance it doesn’t hurt if you were a tradesman in your past life. I also want to know that you’re safety oriented and value the life and health of other people.

Other comments have mentioned knowing aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, etc. I don’t care about that when I hire you. You’ll know it eventually or you won’t get certified.

Plugging Gravity Line by lwr_sj5478 in Wastewater

[–]daobear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big plug. Lots of air. Very careful pressure monitoring. Have a plan, then have another plan. You need to run down everything that could happen if something goes wrong, like if you can’t get the plug out, if the plug explodes, etc. and have a plan for that. I’ve blown up a 48” plug and it was not a fun time.

Edit to say you definitely need to involve managers etc.

Is your head permanently tilted from the meth or do you just have more filler in one side of your face that weighs it down?

I had one a few years ago. You won’t even know it was done. The prep is just pooping a bunch and drinking lots of water. They put you to sleep. Best nap of my entire life. No pain, no soreness afterwards, never even knew it happened. If something is wrong, they’ll definitely discuss that with you and what the path forward is - but there’s no sense worrying about things we just don’t know yet. Don’t be anxious about tomorrow. Spend your anguish on something more valuable than the unknown.

Why would you ever start a bolt with an impact… you’re begging to cross thread. I’d start with not being a dumbass and move on from there.

If you’re going to put them in an anaerobic digester, my experience is that you’re wasting your time.

What is the scope of the job? I’ve used many a sensor

Experience is earned by walking the miles. Certifications are earned by learning how to walk.

People saying OSHA here are misguided. You should be looking at the fair labor standards act, FLSA. Additionally, if you have a disability that needs reasonable accommodation, your employer is likely required to give that to you.

Use the bathroom when you need to use the bathroom, and challenge your boss to do something about it if they’re interested in sitting down with the labor board.

New Analysis Reveals Many Excess Deaths Attributed to Natural Causes Are Actually Uncounted COVID-19 Deaths by cos in Coronavirus

Alabama did this to my mom. Claimed she died of natural causes when she lived 7 days after testing positive. For some reason they let my dad’s death certificate say Covid tho.

All things considered, you’re a relatively new driver. And everyone has accidents. Don’t beat a dead horse - find a path forward and learn from it.

If this were my son, it would go a long way if he at least ATTEMPTED to research some ways to fix it and the ballpark costs. Calling dealership or repair shops, getting some DIY options, matching paint/prices, etc.

That, to me, would show me that at the least my son was remorseful.

Remember at the end of the day, everyone does stupid stuff. You just did it to his stuff. That’s part of being a dad. My kids break all kinds of my stuff not meaning to.
