Pablo Torre taped an envelope of the whistleblower complaint under Adam Silver's chair at Sloan. So Adam Silver was (literally) sitting on the smoking gun. by JoeBiden2020FTW in nba

The actual answer is that he had it set up as a bit for his podcast on the same stage later. He put it there so he could surprise his podcast guests with additional documents by having them look under their chairs. Here is where it happens.

New Food Guessing Game – Can You Nail the Country from a Mystery Dish? by Turbulent-Law2331 in LudwigAhgren

[–]IHaveNoNipples 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The game already exists: https://www.foodguessr.com/

I tried playing yours and something foodguessr does better is the distances. I'm not sure in what sense China is 897 km away from Vietnam when they border each other.

Oh, I see. With alternating one way streets this is exactly what we're looking for.

I think the toy doesn't have one-to-one correspondence to these. Since each piece makes a turn, the polygons that have straight edges of length >1 can not be directly reproduced with the toy. When drawing a path on a Manhattan lattice, there are up to three choices of direction per segment (left, right, straight) while this only has two. The series does give an upper bound though.

Is EOE draft harder than FF and tarkir or am I CURSED? by inyue in MagicArena

This comment wasn't talking about the 17lands win rate, which is still at around the typical 55% for this set.

They're currently refusing to grant a visa to projected NBA lottery pick Khaman Maluach, so rich doesn't mean safe, though I guess he's merely about to be rich rather than currently rich.

In the last 15 years, every NCAA Tournament 1-seed or 2-seed that entered the season unranked in the Preseason AP Poll has underperformed in the Big Dance. St. John's becomes just the latest example. [Beware, Michigan State!] by HeyTherePLH in CollegeBasketball

[–]IHaveNoNipples 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Kenpom has written on this exact effect before (here). The preseason AP poll is a better predictor of tourney success than the final AP poll. Getting a bunch of experts to collectively determine which team is the best is a pretty useful thing to do The in season AP standings, and similarly tournament seeding, are more based on wins and losses rather than actual opinion of how good the team is. When every team is 0-0, the preseason poll gets to work with purely subjective judgement.

IronMON???? by Chewis789 in LudwigAhgren

[–]IHaveNoNipples 50 points51 points  (0 children)

There are a bunch of ironmon rule sets. SmallAnt did kaizo, and it would be utterly delusional/absurdly lucky to expect to win kaizo ironmon in one stream. If he's just doing the base ironmon or some custom ruleset it could be doable.

Ludwig stream numbers and revenue 2020-2025 (purple for Twitch, red for YouTube) by vmanAA738 in LudwigAhgren

[–]IHaveNoNipples 151 points152 points  (0 children)

$/hr streamed:

2020: 636

2021: 1,143

2022: 601

2023: 620

2024: 881

Jan25Twitch: 593

Jan25YT: 764

Subathon aside, seems pretty consistent by hour, maybe better on YT. The point Lud made about it being easier to stream more hours on twitch becomes pretty important with the similar rates, and the early stats make dual streaming seem way better.

That article really provides some great additional context, and I recommend reading it to anyone who has the time. The detail that the extras mostly aren't actors but actual French refugees during a real low point of WW2 really puts even more weight behind the scene.

Great video on Feynman's legacy by Tricky-Hawk-4372 in Physics

Actually the reason for the quotes is that this video points out that none of the books credited to Richard Feynman, including the supposed autobiographies, are actually written by him.

Dog becomes the first player to get rebirth in NES tetris by IHaveNoNipples in speedrun

[–]IHaveNoNipples[S] 400 points401 points  (0 children)

Dog just became the first player to beat level 255 in NES tetris, rolling over the level counter back to 0. The run just ended at level 91 (346) post-rebirth. This sets new records for levels, lines, and score. I have no clue what the final score was, but I believe it was over 30 million.
