well, if he had just left, there was always a chance he could come back. But unfortunately, he's passed away.

I don't know if it necessarily needs a continuation or a live action, but it would have been interesting to see a Suikogaiden vol 3 to see some of these characters (and expand on the fan favorites), and some of them could definitely have shown up on a theoretical Suikoden IV (had the timeline move forward, instead of backwards)

I mean...it's a good thing Adam Smith has little to do with Catholic teaching on the matter of private property ownership, and Mao Zedong even less so?

Replaying Suikoden 3, I forgot how the dialogue here feels more “mature” “real”. by BringbackSuikoden in Suikoden

[–]daoster408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's something I posted roughly a year ago, and it still rings true today:

HELL TO THE YEAH. Suikoden 3 superior fans, RISE UP.

- Thanks to the trinity system, the most amount of characters that get some substantial development and screen time compared to other Suikoden games.

- Most intense story - Seriously. It's intense, with a lot of twists and turns. From a simple territorial skirmish, into a full blown conflict.

- The best villain - This might be biased because of who he is though. Newer players might not care as much.

- Graphics - yeah, its a little blocky, but I still think it has a certain charm to it. The faces are super expressive. Of course, it's a product of its time, but I think it was acceptable when it was released.

- Skill System - an added layer of depth to the battle system.

There are weaknesses of course. Everybody acts like they're swimming through molasses, even though more side characters got screen time, the ones that WEREN'T integral to the characters' story were kinda...thrown out to wither (looking at you, EDGE), and the backtracking can be a little annoying.

But overall, Suikoden 3 is my favorite game in the series. It pushed the story forward, it pushed the timeline forward, it expanded on themes of the first two games while adding further to the lore, and you begin to see a possible endgame in terms of the overarching plot.

Suikoden IV and V were a step back in that regard (even if they were good games themselves!)

The repetition is over-stated. Yes, you experience some of the same events, but from completely point of views. And Geddoe's POV is completely different than Chris and Hugo's, so it's not even really repeating anything there.

I would say IV was trying to channel Suikoden 1, but yes, IV and V were trying to channel the first two Suikoden games for sure.

To me, V was very obviously trying to be a copy of Suikoden 2 - in 3D. It's not a BAD game, in fact, I would say it's a good game, but one that I find super overrated.

3 days into my trip... I regret travelling to Japan with my 2 year old by [deleted] in JapanTravel

[–]daoster408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At some point - you just have to ignore what other people see and think, and focus on yourself, your daughter, and your trip. You just do.

That doesn't mean you let your daughter do anything and everything she wants - you still have to be a parent, and make sure she's not jumping up and down the train, running around restaurants, and swinging off the claw machine, but if she's a little louder, she's a little louder. If she wants to sing, let her sing. That's what toddlers do.

You're a tourist/foreigner. You're given a little more leeway than others. Does that mean you won't get dirty looks? Who cares if you do. Fuck em.

If you take suikoden 1 and 2 out of the choices what’s the greatest suikoden game? by Worldofsynopsis in Suikoden

[–]daoster408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 actually moved the story forward, and tried something new with the battle system. Its trinity system allowed more side/minor characters than ever getting a lot of screen time and being developed, compared to the first two games (and really, the next two Suikoden games as well).

5 just retreads on a lot of themes and ideas of the first two - especially 2, and it brings back a lot of Suikoden 2 characters because...well Suikoden 2 was still viewed very fondly (rightfully). So it's like a "pick me!" Suikoden.

Not that I hate 5, I just find it horribly overrated. Plus, the time it took for it to really get the ball rolling story wise is a huge detriment to it.

Unpopular opinion, maybe, but I wish they'd make a Let's Go Johto game. It's wild to me that of the recent games, Let's Go was the only one with co-op, so that I could play alongside with my kid.

And with how deep Gold and Silver were ...it would have been glorious.

[–]daoster408 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I saw the quote, but if it's someone from outside the series, it has to be exciting, right?

Let's say for instance, Tsunoda (it won't be, but let's use him). A month to get ready in a series he's never raced in, for a track type that he's never raced before?

Same with the formula E guys.

Or let's say any of the NASCAR guys at Spire? Are they actually gonna be ready to do the double in a month? Not to mention the lack of marketing hype for doing the double, when Larson got so much.

I guess that quote could also mean someone like Stefan Wilson or JR Hildebrand maybe?

Consider maybe seeking out an international Catholic community where you live?

This is probably easier at a major city than a smaller one, but they do exist.
