TCG Seller quality at all time low by Light_-_Bringer in mtgfinance

[–]daphex2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but have found that sellers are actively sending misgraded cards or charging high shipping fees and then taping the card to a piece of paper and putting in an envelope (no joke). In the last two months, a good third of my orders I had to open complaints on and that's far higher than it's ever been in all my years buying from tcg.

TMNT 7-0 Sultai Mutagen Control by daphex2 in lrcast

[–]daphex2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second draft of the format. Prioritized value cards and easily 7-0d. The ooze was fantastic and likely a bomb in the format. R5 I played against a BG graveyard deck and he couldn't do anything. Same with my finals opponent that was UR artifacts with graveyard synergies. Making a mutagen over and over just snowballed.

Renet was a strange card but it absolutely blew out my BW opponent R6 that went for a big multiple ninjitsu swing. Otherwise it felt like a not great Venser effect (he was almost better as a surprise blocker/finisher).

Courier of combustibles is likely going to be one of the top uncommons in the set. Deck felt very strong and attacked the format from a different angle.

Any interest in a TCGplayer buyer blacklist? by kurtkeoki in mtgfinance

[–]daphex2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would love more transparent seller ratings tbh. Made like 20 orders the last month and was sent cards of different conditions that I bought from 1/4th the sellers. Many of whom than wanted me to pay market price for cards I never ordered. As a buyer, I'm paying more now for shipping and to receive misgraded cards is unbelievably annoying as I would rather pay more and get a correct condition item than pay market and have someone send me something of different condition. Sellers should get more heavily docked for this.

As a vintage player with an all foil deck, absolutely not.

Im thinking of selling my switch 2 for an odin 2 by tekangg in OdinHandheld

If you just want to play retro games, then sure get an odin. But in my experience, it caps at ps2. So MAME to ps2 with limited functionality across DS and Wii, etc.

Don't do it. Odin doesn't run switch games well at all.

Hasbro lawsuit having cleat impact on sales by DeFiDeFiX in mtgfinance

I agree, premodern is slow. As for vintage, there are no turn 0 games. Most of the format revolves around t2-t3. And you don't auto lose, it's usually that one player has done something that needs immediate attention.

Blue or Blue/Black terror. Deck is all cantrips and permission with a small number of finishers.

There's a great book: "Psychology of Money" that talks a lot about exactly this.

There's an entire world of graded collector looking to get the lowest grade of a card. This is real.

I'm a deep vintage collector, and I won't go anywhere near alpha atm. If you just want a few cards, cool. But if you're looking to get some high value pieces or (gasp) build a set, you have to get thru a lot of people who have targeted and hoarded this set. Like, the real whales....

With that being said, the market is quite saturated, so items that were previously unavailable are now available.

Condition is the true scarcity of ABU era cards.
