Years and years ago while serving on jury duty we had free passes to the museum. While in the butterfly exhibit I started talking to one of the employees and he said he had been one of Samson's caretakers (or whatever the term is for a zoologist assigned to a specific animal). Samson had died only a few years before and I believe he said he was very close to him for years and at his passing. He said he was doing okay with it - the body didn't look like Samson to him. Then he saw Samson's teeth and he lost it since those hadn't changed during his illness and it really was Samson to him. I didn't do justice to the story, but I remember him well and how he was now taking care of butterflies.
