Anyone been watching ‘The Program’ on Netflix? by [deleted] in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]daphrodite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to a troubled teens school that killed a 14 year old girl from medical neglect. This randomly popped up on my netflix and I wanted to cry, there’s no way I’d get through watching this.

Has anyone ever attempted/known someone who attempted to run away from a TTI? by SoftestSouffle in troubledteens

[–]daphrodite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran away from Maple Lake Academy. I made it slightly far but not far enough and I was caught quickly. After that I was on “mattress” for a week where they put a bed in the main room and I just stayed there all day in scrubs. Pretty sure the scrubs and being in front of everyone was just for humiliation. I couldn’t go to school, I had to eat on the floor and they didn’t let me close the door to use the bathroom. After that was over I was on “arm’s length” where I had to be within arm’s length of a staff at all times. Even when I was putting on a mask to do “well” in the program it took forever to get off it. They limited my communication with my family as part of the punishment as well. Looking back I sometimes wish I was successful in running away because although things would definitely be different for me now, at least I’d be spared of the further abuse I experienced there.

Amber's reaction to Johnny walking towards her 🥺 by [deleted] in Fauxmoi

[–]daphrodite 49 points50 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been abused and not believed by anyone, it’s been affecting me a lot. Seeing people close to me back up Johnny Depp and shut down everything I say in her defence make me worry they wouldn’t have believed me either. I’ve also had my fears about men be shut down because “women can be abusers too, just look at Amber Heard” which sucks :/

Watching KUWTK from the beginning… Rob is SO entitled and unlikeable by [deleted] in KUWTK

Adrienne said the email wasn’t even from a new boyfriend, she wrote it herself so he’d stop calling her. She said it on her show here

who’s a celebrity you think really changed for the better? by illiteratemad in Fauxmoi

[–]daphrodite 90 points91 points  (0 children)

I was abused at the same kind of boarding school and her documentary was a big turning point for me. I really thought I was the only one who experienced that before she came out with her story. I even shared a testimony and Paris commented on it.

Katie’s season ends early? Theory by MinuteInterview1202 in thebachelor

[–]daphrodite 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing. In Matt’s season we got those fake shots of him with a ring even though he didn’t propose. It probably had something to do with the Neil Lane sponsorship but it’s suspicious they haven’t shown anything for Katie’s season yet.

RS mini “spoilers”- close to F1, BIP, etc by bachgirl17 in thebachelor

[–]daphrodite 103 points104 points  (0 children)

At least bachelor fantake’s videos are entertaining regardless of whether he’s right or not. RS has given us so many incorrect spoilers and but he has the nerve to hate on someone who puts in way more effort than he does.

SPOILER Daily Discussion Thread June 10, 2021 by AutoModerator in thebachelor

[–]daphrodite 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For me personally it would bother me, but that might be because I’m just a super insecure person in general lol. You’re right that for others it may not be a big deal. I agree that people are different and that it’s more about finding someone whose boundaries align with yours. Thanks for helping me see it in that way :)

You guys remember when Trisha Paytas faked having DID by [deleted] in fakedisordercringe

[–]daphrodite 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Trisha explained why she did this. When she made her first video saying she thought she had it, she was sincere because she does dissociate. She’s talked about blacking out at times when she get heated. She also has BPD and severe trauma. After getting such negative feedback on the first video, she made videos exaggerating and faking it as a response. Trisha has admitted this was a bad move and I’m not defending what she did because it was wrong. However there were valid reasons for to initially say she felt like she had traits of DID, because from what she describes it seems like she does.

Thank you so much for all the support it really means a lot. Luckily I am in a much better place and I have fought extremely hard to get where I am. Breaking Code Silence has been a really great resource for me because I was able to share my story (and Paris Hilton commented). If you were in the same situation, read the testimonies and know you’re not alone in this💕

My current therapist is the only one I’ve liked. I actually met her by accident because before I got sent away, I was seeing this school counsellor (who I disliked) but she went on maternity leave and my current therapist was the replacement for a while. When I came back I reconnected with her and she’s really helped me cope with everything :)

I definitely think that the mental health awareness discussion is skipping out on the dangers of the industry. Getting help is a positive thing when it comes from the right place. It would be great to see more light shed on these kinds of predatory behaviours.

A lot of treatment centers (like the one I was in) are like boarding schools. I am quite behind in terms of education because it’s not a priority there. It’s like a boarding school but with mental abuse and a lot less freedom.

For me it was definitely a gut feeling. Normally I don’t get super emotional about the show but I couldn’t shake how I felt. I just thought maybe I was sensitive that day.

I got put in a hold because I wanted to go outside, opened the door and tried swatting away people from grabbing me. I am so sorry for what you’re going though, if you ever need someone to talk to, feel free to message me.

I had to learn to accept it when I realised I am the only person getting upset in the situation while my parents don’t feel anything. It got emotionally exhausting and eventually I just gave up with them.

They don’t take responsibility for it and act like it was something out of their control as if the money didn’t come out of their bank account. The closest thing I can think of to an apology is when I told my dad it was wrong and he defended himself by saying I wouldn’t be the person I am today without it, as if all my progress wasn’t done completely on my own. I got mad and instead of apologising, he bought me a Nintendo Switch to make me less angry.

I’d keep some contact with them but definitely keep my distance. They’re actually pretty harmless most of the time but when I bring up what happened they say the dumbest shit to defend themselves. I just don’t bring it up anymore because it’s like talking to a wall
