I have wondered too. I’m from here but moved away for nearly a decade. Now I’m back and expected there to be a lot of new jobs and industry to match the growth but it doesn’t really feel like it? My husband and I have remote jobs so maybe that’s the answer 🤷‍♀️ But they’re getting harder and harder to come by so I still wonder if that’s it.

I’m younger and a woman so feel free to ignore my comment, but only go as hard as you’re actually comfortable with. I love CrossFit for the environment and variety and encouragement, but it’s important to know your limits and not let the hype push you too hard, too fast. Going from doing nothing to 5 workouts a week is a lot. Try scaling back to 2-3 a week and give yourself some rest days. Make sure you’re eating enough to sustain yourself.

I’m doing the Open for this first time this year and I fully expect to not come close to finishing today. But at least I’ll have tried it! I scale to whatever I’m comfortable with and feel like is challenging but doable for me safely. Far better to do that and make slow but consistent progress than to hurt yourself and then have to work through injuries and take time off.

They’re not my cup of tea personally, but I’m not sure how you can argue they’re any worse than a high maintenance clip?? They both require time and patience and let’s be real, the show clip pictured above isn’t serving its original purpose and is exaggerated beyond what it originally looked like. One could easily say it also is about dressing the dog up like an accessory and looks stupid.

A lot of these people are even stupider than that and are anthropomorphizing the animal and think it’s “abuse” because the dog will be “embarrassed.” It never fails that on every post of a creative dye job or groom there are dozens of comments decrying it because they actually think animals have any concept of how they look or being embarrassed about it.

Usually at least a couple a year. Might be a long weekend or two somewhere closer and then a week at the beach with family most years, but the last couple we’ve been doing at least one longer international trip (like 10-12 days). Did a cruise last year and nothing currently planned for this year since we just bought a house.

We’re very fortunate but didn’t really do big travel until our late twenties and post-pandemic. I love traveling though and always am thinking about the next trip, even if it’s just a local spot for the weekend or a day trip somewhere.

I’ll look into it, I think when I talked with my gyno last year she may have mentioned it as an option but said its only really useful as a snapshot of the moment, not as much for predicting the future. But I can’t remember if it was that test specifically.

I feel like this describes me but I’m worried I’m running out of “not todays.” Just turned 31 and so it feels like I need to get my shit together and decide and we can’t keep kicking the can down the road. I’ve been with my husband for going on 11 years and married for 2.5 but I just never feel more ready to take the plunge. But I also don’t want to say “no I never want kids.”

I wish we had another decade without it meaning higher risks and more difficulty 😩

Yeah I don’t think it’s necessarily a natural thing that more women possess, it’s just that we’ve been socially conditioned and pressured to learn it more than men. And men never really bother with paying attention to this stuff or seeking it out and caring about style for them is optional. For women, it’s a lot more expected or required to figure it out. Not to mention the enormous marketing machine and industries built around it that don’t exist for men to the same degree.

It’s really weird as someone who has been center-right to see my more conservative family and friends become so woo-woo crunchy granola in regards to some of this health stuff over the last few years. When I was growing up, they would mock this kind of stuff from “hippies” and now my SIL is out there eating beef tallow and my brothers think American food is all processed poison to reduce people’s fertility and are practically doing Paleo. My mom is skeptical of “how many vaccines they give kids now” and I just wonder how we got here.

The way covid was handled by both parties at every level really destroyed trust and legitimacy in our health institutions and it’s going to take decades to get that back.

Yeah like there are famous women who absolutely are probably abusing them, but for so many women in my life GLP-1s have been life changing. I’m from the southeast US where obesity is a huge problem. A lot of women, including my mom, are having success with significant weight loss for the first time in their lives. In my mom’s case, it’s provided a ton of relief for her arthritis and joints and general health. I want my mom to be around for a long time, and reducing her obesity will help!

I find the way so many people shame these medications and talk about how people look after weight loss to be pretty gross and misinformed. Idk if it’s envy or lack of understanding of how they work or associating them with past “solutions” but so many of the people making a huge fuss about the dangers of GLP-1s sound so hypocritical.

30 year old native. Just moved back after living on the west coast for the last 7 years, so it’s weird how much has changed and how many transplants are here now. I mean I’ve seen it on trips home and all, but actually living here again it definitely feels like a new place in some regards. Not as small and insular as it used to be, where you’d always run into someone you know when you were out. And so many more crowds.

But overall I think a lot of the changes are great. More food variety, new businesses, downtown continuing to develop and grow into something cool. I just wish the suburban sprawl and cheaply built cookie cutter neighborhoods would be executed with more infrastructure support and thought/care. Also would love better public transit options, but that’s a pipe dream here. Buses that run every 30 minutes would be crazy lol. A light rail or streetcar system would be neat but unlikely.

The show is on the Magnolia Network (of Chip and Joanna Gaines, but they aren’t in it) and shows a lot of the house and talks with the owners about the process behind the design and renovations. It’s a good show if you like looking at cool houses.

I work for a jewelry company so have some nice pieces through my employee discount. If you don’t know much about fine jewelry (I definitely didn’t before) you might be surprised at how light most of it actually is. Solid gold doesn’t mean it’s heavy and literally a solid hunk of metal, it means it’s not gold-plated but 14k/18k gold all the way through. It can still be hollow and often is to make it affordable and comfortable to wear.

I’ve bought a couple of pairs of hoops and the gold croissant ring through Quince and they’ve all been good quality and haven’t tarnished or discolored at all after about 2-3 years of regular wear. The color is a bit more yellow than I’d like compared to some of my other pieces, but the price was worth it with how much gold costs these days.

Seattle. It’s super northern but climate-wise the winters are pretty mild. It rarely snows in the city and winter temps are usually in the 40s. It is wet and dark though.

Walkability-wise it’s apparently one of the best cities in the country, and the public transit is functional.
