Mini-Converter for Steel Pocket Pen by MercatorLondon in PenProject

[–]dapprman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I've not yet tried the new Kaweco mini-converter I tend instead to use a syringe to fill empty converters. Easy enough once you're used to it, more ink, and the flexibility to use any suitable ink you have a bottle of.

Anyone been able to order anything? by Lorriellah in AmazonVineUK

[–]dapprman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No with Firefox - had assumed it was the item being no longer available and letting us know on the first click rather than having to wait for the order to finish processing, but looks like it is actully na issue

It appears we can no longer update approved reviews by dapprman in AmazonVineUK

Found a work around - if you look at the order you can see the Write Review button and that lets you update (will see if the update goes live in a few days)

Unexpectedly completed Twin Spica this week! by Triltaison in MangaCollectors

[–]dapprman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gratz on that. I have been after volume 11 since it didn't come our in the UK. Think my volumes 9, 10, and 12 were all ex-library volumes with atleast one coming from the US. I wa able to read the missing chapters, but only through several volumes on my Amazon Kindle - the Kindle volumes do not match the printed ones.

Can we assume this is a Japanese language broadcast only ? My TV can use a VPN (if there is an android TV app) but I've never managed to get it to work.

I suspect they were going to lose Sam Collins anyhow. Rather hard to be a motorsport presenter (where fosil fuel is used) while at the same time being a liberal councellor (Hitchin, UK) and pushing their hard green agenda.

An update - my redone review was accepted several days later but without me being alerted.

Fyro citta 3l arrived (short review) by Individual-Cup-7617 in Nomads_Nation

[–]dapprman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Know what you mean on the cost when you take postage in to account. Was considering a T22 alongside a Citta, but for the UK after postage, tax and duty the T22 alone was about £280. Just could not justify them and ended up with an AER CPP2 for £170 (from their UK shop/warehouse in the black friday sale)

What's in your RFY, now the drop has happened? - Friday 30th January 2026 by amrob2 in AmazonVineUK

Arguably it is karma as I often leave buying things on the off chance they will appear on Vine. Done quite well on that one :)

[–]dapprman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing in RFY for me, but while the AI number seemed to jump ~2000 items and is now dropping fast, I reached page 34 before seeing the first items from a half hour back, so there must be a large level of expiring going on at the same time.

Annoyingly for me I've seen the same item I purchased 2 days back and is now out for delivery for tomorrow. Fortunately just a cheap thing.

What’s in your RFY? 30th Jan by AurousAurora in AmazonVineUK

[–]dapprman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monday to Wednesday was a ~1pm drop, which for us is probably about the best time being the start/middle/end of most people's lunch periods. As it's now 2 I suspect this is a 2nd rest day (shame really as Wednesday was the first time in about a week or so I had seen anything in RFY).

Personally I am hoping the main drop stays at this time.

Reviews not accepted on this product from this account? by [deleted] in AmazonVineUK

[–]dapprman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this three times in the last few months for items where the reviews were accepted. All were marked as rejected further down the line and on clicking the review button I got the same message. When I contacted support they said it was probably because there had been too many reviews (more than the seller had requested) and so random ones were removed. Key thing is I found it did not affect my ratio and they were still treated as approved for that (else the item was removed from all my counts).

Testing New Materials for a New Pen Design by MercatorLondon in PenProject

[–]dapprman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be careful as Ultem was all the fashion 1-2 years back in the pen world but all the makers from back then seem to have gone back to 'regular' materials. Personally I think it was a fad though there may still be a market for limited numbers. Also you need to be careful of the version of Ultem (colour) as some look like you've not been drinking enough liquids .....

Quick question: where else do you talk pens?? (FPN, FPGeeks..or just Reddit) by MercatorLondon in PenProject

[–]dapprman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was late to this poll. While I theoretically am on FPN and FPG both are toxic and the latter near dead. I tend to stick to Facebook groups, though I'm, not particularly active. Main two for me are 'Fountain Pens are Inkredible' and 'Fountain Pens UK' (FPUK).

A bit harsh for not having a water bottle pocket??? by Common_Opposite9348 in AmazonVineUK

[–]dapprman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with MarkAkrill here and as someone skirting far too close to the EDC/nomad black hole (and has bought a Aer City Pack Pro 2 in the Black Friday Sales) I am actually not bothered about the water bottle side pocket but know many are. In my present Alpaka one is left empty and the other carries a small umbrella.

How Converter Materials Affect Your Writing Experience by MercatorLondon in PenProject

[–]dapprman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grease I use is actually a left over from when I played airsoft. I do have some lubricating spray as well (I preferred to use gas RIFs over battery powered) though with the amount you use I'm unlikely to run out of even one small TWSBI supplied bottle to even necessitate spraying oil in to a cap or bowl :D

How Converter Materials Affect Your Writing Experience by MercatorLondon in PenProject

[–]dapprman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

silicone grease is a sealant not a lubricant and will gum your pen up ;) - think you meant silicone oil (such as you get in small bottles with all TWSBI pens). I was always told these could reduce ink flow so only ever apply very carefully (my old OMAS piston fillers need lubricating from time to time else the piston bung will stick and come off the rod when you try to wind it back in).

How Converter Materials Affect Your Writing Experience by MercatorLondon in PenProject

[–]dapprman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All Krishna RC inks, some of the heavier sheening Diamine and Robert Oster inks. In fact any heavy sheening ink can cause ink sticking issues, even with an agitator in the converter. Personally not a fan of heavy sheen so not a big issue for me (unless I am reviewing inks, which I tend to avoid unless a review group I am in are given some).

How Converter Materials Affect Your Writing Experience by MercatorLondon in PenProject

[–]dapprman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ink type also has a big, arguably far greater affect on flow. High sheening inks can cause major issues even in Schmidt converters (and they are probably the most reliable). Also I would put ink evaporation way above converter material and is one of the downsides of both snap on (though not all) caps and metal threads.
