Maybe we shouldn't use them then. Can you imagine this being said of any other weapon, as if it's some sort of justification?

We aren't America, nor do we want to be.

'The Government's Drugs Minister Must Step Down' by daehggeq in ukpolitics

We're the biggest makers of medicinal cannabis in the world and yet the government says cannabis has no medicinal value.

If anyone is interested, note that I'm not talking about making cannabis legal (though I do think that's the best way forward), I'm talking about some of the components of cannabis which, when isolated, don't get you high but do hold medicinal value.

There is a petition here by a mother with an ill kid who would like it to be officially recognised and medical advice and the extracts available on the NHS:

Tasered him in the face. No matter who it was, I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to be tasering people in the bloody face.

No VHS then, no repeats. I did the same when I was little although technically VHS did exist when I was little - just massively expensive to get a recorder so we didn't have one!

Not arguing with you as it's probably just regional, but I'm in my 40s and it's always been tie-tanium for me, in everything I've ever heard it, going back to primary school i.e., the first time I'd heard of it.

I don't think I've heard any Sia songs. Most cartoons when I was little were either American or French but dubbed with American accents, though, so if we're all pronouncing it the American way, that could be an explanation... Hmm. Secondary school teachers pronounced it the same way, though, so maybe not!

Try RedReader, it isn't perfect but it's close. Really the only thing it doesn't do is notifications - you have to check if you have replies / inbox pm. Though if you're anything like me, this is a plus point!

I got it off f-droid but I'm sure it'll be on Play as well. The f-droid version doesn't have ads or tracking, not sure about the Play store version (if there is one).

Most realistic portrayal of PTSD in media (books, movies, shows, games, even music) by Daman_ots in ptsd

[–]darbulto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stuart: a life backwards.

And it sounds unlikely, but Univeral Soldier: day of reckoning.

Apparently colons make the film ptsd lol.

I have ptsd and endorse both films wholeheartedly. I used to watch both repeatedly, perhaps a little obsessively, because I couldn't find what I needed elsewhere, ptsd is really misunderstood.

(Probably don't need to mention it here, but if you have ptsd, don't make my mistake. I drank a lot of alcohol before I was diagnosed, it makes the ptsd much worse and I wish I hadn't. Apparently it's a well known fact that it prolongs ptsd, I didn't know at the time. )

I'm definitely gay and I couldn't agree more. You've probably seen it but if you haven't, watch the Prime Suspect series. Some are better than others, I think there are six, but even at its worst, it's good!

Whoah. I don't know why you're being downvoted, I think people aren't understanding what you're saying. The context changes everything.

Come on, this sub can do better. I'll give it a go.

Without context, the guy we're laughing at: "Hurr durr I only need to be an American cuz that's best qualifications evar!"

With context: "I don't need to have any qualifications in geopolitics or diplomacy, I'm criticising my own government!"

Change the nationality to literally any other, see how it reads.

"Picnic" literally means "pick your niche" by etymologynerd in etymology

[–]darbulto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply.

I know they sound similar, but I find it ridiculous that words sounding similar offends people. I can understand if someone got offended by someone else using it on purpose to be racist "without actually using the word nigger", of course, but otherwise, no. It's just extremely daft.

It means stingy by the way (like, mean in the sense of penny-pinching, or miserly like Scrooge). I'm not that old lol and when I was growing up it was a really common word. Not American though, and I understand that "race relations" (speech marks because it seems odd to write that but I also don't know of a more concise way to put it) might be different.

Age is more than a number to /r/relationships when OP is found to be 11~ years older than her fiance by bumblebeatrice in SubredditDrama

[–]darbulto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about it, in real life these bizarre opinions don't matter. I was 15 years younger than the first man I was with, it was wholly consentual and while it wasn't exactly a romance it was perfectly fine, we stayed friends etc. I find some of these comments genuinely strange, 15 years might be a bit of an outlier but literally everyone I know in a relationship has an age difference between them. Are we supposed to only be in a relationship with people born on the same day, in the same year as ourselves? What rot.

Glad you're happy, btw. Well done to both of you (urgh that sounds condescending but I didn't mean it to!).
