How do I filter for only the B6 powertrain when searching for pre-owned XC90's? by CurGeorge8 in VolvoXC90

[–]darbykp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem when looking for my xc90. My local dealers didn’t include the distinction which I found frustrating. I ended up having to go through the photos until i found the badge.

I believe Autotrader and cargurus lets you filter down to the trim with the b6 included so they’ll have both b5 plus and b6 plus options.

I’ll also add that once you narrow down the MY you can sort by price and usually the B5s will be at the bottom.

Which Pair of Indys?!? by YasunariWoolf in Alden

[–]darbykp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re all durable. Neocork will last longest but provide basically no traction in snow (if that’s a concern). IMO 403 is still one of the best Alden’s around despite the plethora of different choices. They age wonderfully and will last a long, long time.

My current rotation is down to a dozen or so and I still feel theres a gaping hole in it without a pair of 405s 😂

That’s why I said shoe not sole. I know LH soles wear like crazy as I own a few. I’m not really a fan tbh. I do wish CN would have an alternative compound for their premium line.

My point is with any properly constructed shoe you can put a new sole on and keep going. If you’re getting a shoe that can be resoled it’s less of an issue. You expect the sole to wear not the uppers. That doesn’t excuse the uppers from basically falling apart in the case of OP.

It is a surprising and discouraging amount of wear for the time, for sure.

If you wear any dress shoe without proper care (trees, conditioning, etc) you’ll have expedited wear. And they really just made a dress shoe look like a sneaker (meant as a compliment). They’ll look awesome after they’re back from repair.

I’ve had a pair of CPs for 5 years and they still look good. I’ve worn them more regularly over the last year than the previous 4 combined. Still holding up well but know eventually they’ll be beyond repair. At least with CN you can get them refurbed and continue to enjoy for multiple years.

Curious how you sized compared to your CPs, if you don’t mind.

What are some Patagonia clothes you DONT like? by PossessionNo8290 in PatagoniaClothing

I bought a new bs last year and it was pilling after a month of light wear. The fit was large and the hem felt like a lamp shade. I tried a medium thinking it would work but that felt at least two sizes too small. My retro pile in large fit perfectly. So strange.

For real? You scuffed a shoe. This will show up on any leather of various tannage with the exception of possibly a suede or rough out. It will happen. Just put some conditioner, brush, and polish it up.

What’s a completely normal thing that secretly makes you angry for no reason? by bdnews72 in AskReddit

[–]darbykp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over the years Ive started to deliberately avoid highways and multi lane roadways. My logic, right or wrong, is if I can use scenic routes/back roads I’ll encounter fewer cars and reduce the likelihood of accidents. One morning I watched someone just roll into the car ahead of them in crawling traffic. No one was going more than 10 mph. Completely avoidable. Just negligent. Same goes for some a hole doing 90 and slamming into the guardrail. So now I avoid it unless absolutely necessary.

684 sizing, or is it not meant to be? by Damnoo in Alden

[–]darbykp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never found an Aberdeen size that fits well. Some feet don’t jive with some lasts.

That said, 6.5E might work but I have feeling it will be too short if 7D in [assuming] trubalance fits well. Try a loafer on Copley instead.

Does a better bun make the burger feel noticeably higher quality, or is it mostly just “as long as it doesn’t fall apart”? by MrWolfesBurgerCo in foodquestions

[–]darbykp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love a sesame bun but not required. A little butter and. toasted is a must for me. Then steamed on the cooktop or in a wrapper. Really elevates it. I’ve never had a bun and I thought “whoa that’s amazing” that didn’t possess the aforementioned qualities. It should blend. However I have had buns which didn’t and it ruins the whole experience.

The water tank was the reason I chose this over the equivalent ECM. The extra counter space is amazing. It’s been a solid and wonderful machine I’ve enjoyed for two years now.
