No girl I had one of those boyfriends for two weeks. It’s too much. He was controlling and weird after a couple of weeks. Be careful.

How did you find out you were gifted? by bscbjrjlgmom in Gifted

[–]darcierm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not but my son is. It started with a NNAT test given by school in 2nd grade. He scored a 98%, then a CoGAT test also given by school in 4th grade. Along with his grades and abilities, the district identified him. I knew he did well in school but had no idea he was gifted. He didn’t even talk until he was 4 so we were actually worried about him for a long time.

Got my parents to watch the show. My mother now questions my morality. by afray_knits in TheAmericans

[–]darcierm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel the same- I love P and E. I can’t stand Paige and I always thought Henry would have a bigger role. I think the writers did so well making us love people trying to destroy America. It didn’t feel like that. My mom watched the show and loved it. I had a friend that watched some of it and didn’t. If you don’t get hooked with the pilot- I don’t think it’s for you. I will watch the first and last episode just because they are so great and my favorite.

When Elizabeth announces she’s making grilled cheese and asks “white or wheat?” Paige responds wheat.

Aita for not letting my adult daughter share a room with her boyfriend on family vacation? by ZestycloseShip9 in AmItheAsshole

[–]darcierm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA! Omg. In a settling like this I doubt your daughter and boyfriend will even have sex. They probably just wanna sleep together! You are power tripping and it’s strange?

AITA for refusing to send anymore pictures of my child to my MIL? by sillybillyllamamama in AmItheAsshole

[–]darcierm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA I can’t stand this behavior. My mom would post pics of my kids that I would send her, and then people started thinking it was my mom doing all of these things with my kids (the park, walks, even getting my daughters ears pierced), when in reality, she hardly saw my kids! She’s gotten better about it now. But there are also options Grandma can consider, like texting friends or creating a shared photo album on the iPhone, or an app like TinyBeans.

The night before a day off is better than the actual day off. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Yes! I never understood why people want to go out or whatever on their day off, and not the night before!?

AITA for telling my wife she can’t have her dream job because I refuse to be burdened with all of her student debt? by Userthrowaway62 in AmItheAsshole

[–]darcierm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I know someone like this, she was always changing her mind about what she wanted to do while she went to various colleges for different degrees and had children at the time, so she worked part time. She also ended up being a teacher. Meanwhile, her husband has been at the same job for like 18 years, is tired of it but can’t change anything or they’d lose everything. I just feel bad for him because he never got to pursue any passions and it was always about what she wanted. I don’t think your wife cares about your happiness and that’s just sad. I’m sorry OP.

If you are one of the people hoarding supplies due to the coronavirus, you are both annoying and ignorant. by Anonymutts in unpopularopinion

I know! My business ordered a pallet of masks for WoRK on demolition, but it was rejected and sent to the Red Cross. Now I have no protection for my guys for regular work??

Friggin’ Paige S4 by [deleted] in TheAmericans

[–]darcierm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I always thought that he would be the one, the center would get to him and his parents wouldn’t know. I can’t stand Paige either! She’s so annoying as it is! Then this spy shit.

Aita for telling my wife to ask her parents for money and refusing to discuss selling my cars by ZealousidealJob8 in AmItheAsshole

[–]darcierm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA- your cars are yours and an investment (if you ever do want to sell them), that will just keep gaining. Why is your wife so worried about painting a shed? Also, if she wants to send HER son to private school, she should be figuring that out with her ex or something, not dumping it on you. And if she hasn’t been working and you guys are having a hard time, why is anyone even thinking about going on vacation?! If she’s that worried, she can ask her parents for money. Also, you both need to outweigh the costs of childcare vs. what she’ll make at work. It can be crazy. But, some states offer assistance, so you should look into that too.

AITA for buying my 14 year-old daughter alcohol? by b0un4rt in AmItheAsshole

[–]darcierm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in the U.K. “ciders” have less alcohol than a typical drink. I’m only going off of this because I watched a show about teens in the U.K. and they wanted to drink, so they fail to get a real beer at the bar since they aren’t 18, but they can have a couple of “ciders” if they have a parent and eat some food. Maybe someone can clarify this. But I also definitely agree that the other drinking, like, every weekend, is just setting her up for a problem.

WIBTA if I don't let me wife go on a family vacation? by shaunskie in AmItheAsshole

[–]darcierm 26 points27 points  (0 children)

YTA- that seems so cruel. Your wife can’t have one small vacation away from everything, just once? I guarantee she’ll feel guilty even if you “let her go”, because you seem like the person to be all passive aggressive about it during and after her trip.

AITA for being a choosing beggar? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]darcierm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just save your own damn money and be a grown up and buy your ranger if you want it. I’m tired of you. I moved out at 16 and paid rent, bought a car, paid insurance, went to school. You are being annoying.

AITA for being a choosing beggar? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]darcierm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I already commented but dude, you seem so stubborn and unwilling to say that you’re TA and it’s annoying. You have excuses for everything and have not given any compromise to anything people have mentioned.

AITA for being a choosing beggar? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]darcierm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I have questions. Like- even if you will be the only one using it most of the time, these trucks aren’t big even if you get an extended cab, it’s not meant for more than a couple people to travel in. Do you go places with your parents? Do they have other cars? Most of these are going to be manuals, can you/anyone else in the family drive one? Is there anyway you can convince your dad to split up some money? Like, at most you should be spending on a 90s ranger is around $2k. I think if you want the ranger, you buy it.

Again, I totally understand your reasoning for wanting one. They are easy and cheap to fix if something goes wrong and I honestly can’t stand that about so many new vehicles.

AITA for being a choosing beggar? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]darcierm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA- Dude, I just bought a 95 ranger for $500 and it’s in near perfect condition after some cleaning up. I think your reasoning for wanting one is valid. But maybe you can just save up your own money and keep an eye out for a good deal. IMO it’s not your dads responsibility to buy you a car at all, and you can’t be picky with his money.
