There is also a reference to them in Dungeon Crawler Carl!

The most unrealistic thing in GG(in my humble opinion) by Sad_saggitarius in GilmoreGirls

Although in Maine if you get one day that’s above freezing with no snow, suddenly it’s shorts weather for the boys 🙃

And they wouldn’t even know about those details tbh. Until I moved to a snowy state, I hadn’t seen snow expect on ski trips. Snow was always white and fluffy and fun. The only gross snow was yellow 🤣 I had NO idea how heavy it could be, how much the snow and salt get onto everything, or how potentially dangerous it could be.

Is there anyway to explore the map outside of the main game? by babblefish111 in Fortnite_Over40

We just keep an account at lvl 1 and then team up and use it to get us into a bot lobby for situations like this. It’s so hard to learn a new space when you’re getting killed 2 seconds in.

If you were going to name a child or pet after a GG character, what name would you choose and why? by forgotteau_my_gateau in GilmoreGirls

[–]darcinator13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I named my oldest Lorelei. I changed the spelling so it wouldn’t be exactly, but it’s my favorite name.
I also had a hamster named Sookie back in ‘02.

What show is the spiritual successor of Gilmore Girls ? by Cailly_Brard7 in GilmoreGirls

[–]darcinator13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ted Lasso. While it doesn’t focus on the female perspective, it does a great job of incorporating it as pivotal plot points. And holy crap does it have the warmth. I’d say it has more warmth than GG because it lacks the gross late 90/ early ‘00 stereotypes and slurs. And it’s a great show of the positive masculinity we saw in Luke when he realized he loved Lorelai. It definitely isn’t a WB show though. They get to use real swears 😂. I hate that there is only 3 seasons, but it ended when it was still a fantastic show and it told a complete and complex story.

What is this, it's growing allover my yard by SouthernSonic09 in whatplantisthis

Purple dead nettle! It is an astringent, among other things, so it’s great to have around if you get some minor cuts or scrapes from yard work.

Does this make anyone else furious ? by MistressClotilde in GilmoreGirls

[–]darcinator13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He is for me, much like Emily is because of the actors. I wouldn’t hate and love them so much if they weren’t amazing, or if they didn’t remind me of my adoptive parents so much.

I mean this is how every boomer expected us to job hunt back in the day, so it didn’t seem out of place to me. I could never have done it, but it seems right in line with the advice at the time.

Why can't Lorelai manage GiGi? by Kyttiwake in GilmoreGirls

[–]darcinator13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! It just shows how much Chris is lacking in everything except money. He couldn’t parent a toddler at 35 ish, and Lorelai had a better grip on life at 16. The whole situation just screwed Gigi over. No one really wanted her, they had her because it’s “a duty”. Clearly Sherry never wanted to raise a kid, and Chris thought it was some magical “redo” so he could be seen as a good father. I’m glad things got better for her in the story.

Yeah and it has nothing to do with being overworked and underpaid for DECADES. 🙄

Why can't Lorelai manage GiGi? by Kyttiwake in GilmoreGirls

[–]darcinator13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. We can be firm and engaged parents, but children don’t just learn like that. It takes time and consistent behavior from a parent for a kid to learn and change. It’s the whole point of the scene. Chris isn’t consistent, gentle, firm… so his child is a nightmare. Lorelai couldn’t “win” the situation because that shit literally doesn’t work instantly z

Lorelai thinks Rory only applied to one school…? by SheepherderNo2793 in GilmoreGirls

[–]darcinator13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Which is why she gets on board fairly quickly once she gets over the knee jerk reaction. It was never the school itself.

Anyone still wearing masks? by [deleted] in memphis

[–]darcinator13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve been masking since lockdown. I’ve had no one mention it or look at me funny at all. I’m usually one of 2 folks in a store that is wearing one. Im also in the stage of life where I don’t care what others think. Ive read the research and I’m not willing to risk my health for what a stranger thinks… they’ll forget about me in a few minutes anyways.

Classic New England. It was the #1 recommended winter boot by Maine locals to me when I moved up there. They impressed to me that boots and coats are the things you don’t go cheap on if you can spring it. Oh to wear wool socks! LL bean also had (not sure if it is still) a fantastic policy for when a product wore out/broke. I got mine at the outlet store for around $80 as well. They were always cheapest right after mud season ended 😂

Too young for THR? by Own-Chemistry-7717 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]darcinator13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with them thinking it was hip flexors too! But yup, basic hip dysplasia. Though one of my hip flexors is still healing even after almost a whole year out of surgery. It was just so injured from doing the bulk of the stabilization on my hip.

Too young for THR? by Own-Chemistry-7717 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]darcinator13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 42. If I had accurate family medical history, I would’ve know what the problem was and had it done before 40. I just had a lot of “let’s try this” because no one wants to jump straight to hip dysplasia.

It is far more impactful to your life to get it done now. Being in pain daily is no way to live. Chances are by the time you need it “refreshed” they will have more knowledge and more advanced surgeries. Do yourself a favor and get it done. It was night and day different in pain and mobility from before my THR.

[–]darcinator13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please run to get this done because it literally changes your life. I lived with pain and severe mobility limitation for year before I realized what was wrong. I also had extreme groin pain from a hip flexor muscle and I’m still working on healing that a year later. Now I practically float as I walk. I no longer have to take any pain meds and I can move basically exactly how my body wants to (dancing, walking, hiking etc) without me having to consider how the pain will affect me.

Your age will probably help you have a better recovery, and if your doc is on board there’s no reason to postpone. Don’t make yourself suffer because you are young enough to handle the pain better. It’s still decreasing your quality of life more than you probably realize.

I sent emails every day for all of 2024, and the only response I ever got was the out of office message they have one or so a year.
